See I DNF books quite often, and I mostly just remove them from my shelf and call it a day, but this book disappointed me so much I could not leave it alone. Got to about 50-60% I think.
Slight spoilers ahead.

The set up, the premise, the FMC and the supporting characters are absolutely amazing. Honestly love a tortured FMC so this was just chefs kiss. But I should have known from the first time we get the MMC pov that this would go bad. This woman is literally actively on the run from her abuser, and you're telling me she is just happily falling asleep after being kidnapped and is fine doing fucking primal play with the guy who kidnapped her and she has known for 5 damn minutes???? I cannot deal with this like what the actual fuck. This book could have been so good if the MMC's were removed and replaced by literally anyone else.
I really don't like leaving such harsh reviews but sometimes books just really hit a sore spot and this is it for me.
I was so excited for this book, and I adored the first half... but omg it went on for way too long, and I just did not care at all for some of the storylines! Like parts of this book were amazing, but a lot of it was just meh. I think being so excited for the book made it feel even worse when it did not live up to the expectation.
It has been a hot minute since I read a physical book this quickly. I just could not put it down! Its been long enough since I read the first 2 books that I didn't mind the refreshers of the story and I'm just such a sucker for characters from other books making an appearance and seeing the other perspective. I loved that the book didn't have as many time jumps as the others, it felt much more cohesive. I do agree with the criticism that a lot of character growth happened off the page, so that would have been nice to see more in the book. However, that does not take away from how much I enjoyed this book!
So this was actually like so adorable!? I was just sitting here listening to it and started laughing and smiling in the distance. So good and fun! Defo check tw's because it handles some heavy stuff in quite a lighthearted way. I just wish there was a book dedicated to the friends because they were so fun!
I was sooo excited about this book, I was so happy to get an advanced audio copy for this because the premise seemed so up my ally. But damn I was so disappointed in the execution. The FMC was just so unlikable, and don't even get me started on the friend.... This book was an example that saying over and over how obsessed the FMC is with the MMC doesn't actually make it believable. You have to actually show some yearning and some development of feelings for me to buy it. I really do not like insta-love
I think this book is somewhere between the 2 and 3 stars because I do think the story progression was pretty good and the texting was fun, but I also just truly didn't care for the characters so I cannot rate it any higher. I also just have a huge pet peeve when people talk about 13 year old's like they are adults now, so yea that didn't help. At least it was a nice quick listen while in a couple of hours.
Thank you so much for the advance audio copy, the narration was wonderful!
I feel like this series is giving me whiplash, but also somehow I have already read 4 books in this world already?! The writing is so nice and easy to read, I love (most) the characters and the story. I think most of this book I wanted to give it 4 stars but that ending.... I love it so much that I have to put it up to 5 stars.
What can I even say about this? Ali Hazelwood only writes masterpieces. This ticked so many boxes of things I love in my books, it was so much fun to read. Loved the characters and the story. The ending did feel quick, but I actually liked it a lot because it kept me fully invested the whole way through.
Sooo fun! I went into this with 0 expectations and it was amazing. I love going into books mostly blind and it was amazing to figure things out as I went through the book. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun and a little silly book to just chill and make you feel happy. It wasn't a slowburn really, but I loved the pacing and it felt the opposite of insta love, which was amazing.
So I finally went ahead and read this book, it has been recommended soooo many times and it keeps popping up everywhere I look when I'm trying to find books with tropes I like... And I liked it, but I'm also a little worried.
One of the MMCs has already done something unforgivable, so curious to see how that plays out.
The writing is not the best, it feels very high school, I was really expecting a more intense well written story but instead it feels very cute trying to be edgy.
I feel like this is going to be one of those “pretending to be slow burn” books while actually just jumping from 0 to 100 when the time comes.
However, despite all of that, the actual story that's being told is amazing! I just wish it was delivered a bit better. But seeing that the rest of the series are all 500+ pages, I'm hoping the writing will improve.
So like I was set on making this a 5 star review, because holy crap I think I died and went to heaven reading this book. But I cannot ignore how terrible of a person the MMC is omg. Like just piece of trash manipulative behavior for days, but like just ignore that and the book is great! Big part of the high rating is jsut the fact that there is FFM rep in this book, severely lacking that in the Bookish community. Also I think office romance and me don't vibe that well because the anxiety I felt for them being discovered oh my.
I don't remember where this was recommended to me but decided to just give it a go and was very pleasantly surprised! I really liked the slow pacing throughout most of the book and the story progression. I also really like that you get introduced to all these characters, and you know its RH, but yet you don't know how its actually going to work and who is or is not included. My only complaint is that the slow burn very suddenly went to 100%. Like you're going slow the entire book and suddenly wham, the burning is done. Would have preferred if no one got together until later books.
