Abandoned. The characters did not grab me.

A quiet and enjoyable read. Calming. I cried over it, and I never cry.

Love these quirky elderly inspectors - and Fowlers witty, slightly Dickensian, slightly Blavatskyan, baroque, erudite, tongue in cheek, high brow and very British style. I am listening to and reading this series back to back. There is so much warmth and fun in these tales. Good plotting too. Very smart books.

A fun, light read.

An utterly charming and very British book. Good plot, very nice characters. This is a book that I did not even mind listening to large parts twice for, as I fell asleep totally soorhed and picked up things I had missed the first time;-) But also because all of it pleased me. The pace, the rich style. Just very charming, never gruesome, and I must admit I like it when the protagonists are of an advanced age.

Some of Perry's books are nice. Entertaining. Her characters are warm. But this one is way too drawn out. It only picks up at the very end.

What a horrible book. Full of nasty yet very flat characters. An unconvincing premise. And what will happen is laid out at the start. I gave up near the end, and I don't know why I read all thet way. I wonder If Ruth Rendell really enjoyed herself while writing it.

Good, but not out of the ordinary.

No spoilers - a good read. As always, with Harris. A dystopia of sorts. I see many people hete are a little disgruntled with the ending, but I thought it fitting. We would not want the whole thing to start over again now, would we?

Nicely complicated legal thriller. Rich language. The start was extremely well written - as usual more plain action later on. Still, very satisfying.

I like Bjork, for the nice stories and characters, but this books ending was pretty weird. So 4 stars for the storytelling, not the solution.

Sweet, gay and charming, but a tad too farcical. Venetia and The Grand Sophy were better.

Well written. But not a story that sticks. Too artificial. No real solution either.

Had I read this before? Amazing. Can’t remember. Written by Felix. Not as good as most, but still OK.

A good read with a disappointing ending. Clever, yet disappointing. Was that all?

Very nice book, but I was listening to it as an audiobook read by the author. She has a slight speech defect which made it too hard to get for me as a non native speaker. Gave up halfway. Must finish it in print.

3 or 4 stars? I wanted to know how it ended, but I have read about more pleasant people.

Too slow. Too long. Weird story, really.

Smart plot but boring, flat characters. No one who is really sympathetic.

Fun, but a tad drawn out.

3 of 4? I like the people, but something is lacking. And lots of repetition.

Enige herkenning. Ergernis over kwalitatieve en nergens gefundeerde uitspraken. Lastig dit soort grabbelton-boeken. Intelligent geschreven maar onduidelijk wat je er aan hebt.

A nice read, even though the protagonist was a bad mother ;-) Great to have a female protagonist, and she was very believable as a doctor.

Very light, very nice and very well done for a retro-Jane Austen.

Witty. Funny. Delightful.
