See allThis book was okay, but in my opinion too long. I have to admit though, I'm not big on thrillers, or mystery. By the end, I didn't care who did it!
But the characterization was lovely! Descriptions were good.
Lizbeth was awesome - one of the best characters of all time. Mikael was good too.
I won't read the rest of them though - mostly because I don't care for the genre.
This is the first of Porter's books I've read. It won't be the last.
The Good Daughter is my favorite kind of WF; meaty and real, but a bit of a love story to lighten the heavy subject matter.
The writing is wonderful. If you like the kind of fiction described above, do yourself a favor, read this book.
If you like Jeffrey Deaver or the like, you're going to love this book.
The blurb “Before I go to Sleep meets Sleeping with the Enemy” is apt. But what makes it really different is the structure. Skipping from the past to the present is a bit jarring at first, but after the first few, it is completely compelling. Found it hard to put down.
As a domestic violence survivor, I can tell you, the facts are accurate.
Elizabeth's timing is dead on – the tension starts high, and ratchets up from there. Don't pick it up unless you have hours to spend, because you won't be able to put it down.
Best debut book I've read.
