Claude: A Wordless Picture Book About Art

Wrote a review for

What a cute fun book!

Wordless but said so much. No need any single word to express the joyful of the story.

My son loved it so much. He created his own story based on the illustrations. He also painted a painting as similar as he could with the paint displayed in this book. I might be bias because he is my son, but his painting was beautiful. Though the mess he made did not πŸ˜… Well, that was a fun of painting for him. Making a permittable mess along the way.

We also looked up for other paintings by Claude Monet on the internet. My son loved them so much and they inspired him to make the version of some of them in Minecraft. As I wrote this review, he already made his version of The Water Lily Pond, The Water Lilies, Poppies, and The Artist's Garden at Giverny on his Minecraft.

Sniff Squad: Dog Training for Kids Who Love Mysteries : Family Fun Activities, Detective Games, and Adventures for Kids Teaching Dogs Scent Skills

Wrote a review for

That was so much fun. We (my son and I) don’t have dog but we modified it using his stuffed dog and played pretend using this book as a guideline seriously as if we trained our real dog. I bet for families who have dogs, this book would be even better.

The words used in this book were simple enough and my 5 years old son could understand though I still needed to simplify some of parts to him fully comprehend them.

The illustrations were good though I believe they made by AI. The style was so AI generated. I really hope the writing is not AI made too. If Agent Max turn out to be an AI, I would surely change the rating to 1-star. I am fine-ish with AI generated illustrations/covers but definitely not fine with AI writing.

Thank you to Agent Max, BooksGoSocial, and NetGalley for the ARC.

p.s. My son's nickname is Max. So we (me and my son) always laughed when we saw the author of this book. And partly the reason why my son enjoyed this book. He pretended he wrote this book πŸ˜…

Rucking Obsessed

Wrote a review for

I think I have read 3 books from this author and I believe I loved 3 of them so much because the MMCs were all unhinged yet so funny. Actually Sebastian, or Bash, was also so unhinged and little bit funny in here. He fixated (in a good way) on Livingston/Livy since he was 10 years old. He was so crazy in love with her since he was that young. Not make sense at all to be honest but everything could happen in fiction world. Livingston was also having the type of insta-love to Bash the moment they met again, though at that time she didn't know anything about Bash. Their love story was actually so good. One of my problems was that there was no details in how they met in the past. How on earth 10 years old Bash met Livy? Until the end of the book, I didn't know how these kids met back then. I wish there were more background story on their pasts.

Another problem I have with the story was the way the author threw up many names with important roles without explaining who they were, how they connected with each other, and why they were the way they were. I partially understand maybe the author wants to explain them in next book(s), but personally I need contexts so I am not confused with the story. I am glad I previously read 3 other books from this author, I could imagine myself so confused if I didn't.

The suspense plot was actually really good. However I felt like it solved in a rush. I thought it would be ended in grand reveal but personally I think it was so anticlimactic and flat. Like hah? That was it? Just like that?

Though I have a feeling that this series just would be the same like the previous one from this author, because I could see the sameness in characters, I hope I am wrong and the next book(s) would surprise me.

The Little AI That Could but Shouldn't

Wrote a review for

Oh my God!!! This book was something!!! I giggled, I laughed, and I cried!!!

I might need time to get used to the story because this book is not the type of the book I usually read. But this book gave me so little time to get used to, this book just pulled me to the story easily and deeply.

The characters were so freaking unique, at least for me. Al was like a toddler who just discovered the world, which was true because he indeed just discovered the world. He was so innocent and logical at first. He easily captured my heart. Zara was motherly in strict way and I loved it about her.

I loved the banters between Al and Zara. I would pay for them keep going on their banters because it was amusingly entertaining. These two were so different but meant to each other.

The writing style was also unique for me and it was so freaking refreshing. I read this book in one sitting and I was overwhelmed, in good way, by this book by the time I finished reading.

While I loved almost everything about this book, I was not a fan of the ending. I don't want to spoil the story, but I wish the ending were the part before the end, where I was ugly crying and my heart was breaking so much for Al. However, Al was being so Al and made the ending the way it was. Oh Al!

Aside from the ending, I loved this book so freaking much. I wish I could read this book for the first time again.

Oh nooo, this volume was so heartbreaking πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ˜’ I was ugly crying the whole time πŸ˜πŸ˜’πŸ’”

This volume was so different with the previous volume. More serious and more complex in terms of storyline. The characters were also grew in numbers and the depths of their feelings. That was so good to read. Despite the heartbreaking part(s), I really enjoyed this volume. Can't wait to read the rest of the books.

Blades and Dreams: A Figure Skating Journal and Knowledge Guide

Wrote a review for

I knew nothing about Figure Skating. I was into it long time ago when I read (romance) book by Mariana Zapata which the characters were Figure Skaters. Back then I watched many videos about Figure Skating so I could at least understand what they were talking about. But since it was long time ago, I automatically forgot about them. Me and my short term memory. Then Winter Olympic 2026 was happening and Figure Skating was one of the highlights of it. I was back to watching Figure Skating videos and reading the books about it. This book was one of them.

True to the title, this book focused on journaling the progress of the readers' Figure Skating journeys. The first 50% of the book was fully journal type of books which highlighting step by step of progress in Figure Skating.

The last 50% of the book was brief history and guidelines of Figure Skating itself. And this part was the part I read religiously since I had zero knowledge about the sport. It was educational and easy to understand because the words used were straightforward and followed by the illustrations/pictures of the subject explained.

I think this book is perfect for the kids who already have a mind in Figure Skating, especially girls. I might read the boys edition for my son to introduce him to the sport.

Fck! That was so scary, so tragic, so heartbreaking, so sad, but at the end that was so heartwarming. I am so speechless. This book left me unsettled.

First I was reading this book in the middle of the night when my husband and my son were sleeping. At 20% or something into the book, the horror gotten worse and I stopped reading until the sun came up. I was too chicken to read this scary manga at night in the dark. For me this manga was so scary. The illustrations were the worse because they were really really scary. This manga is my first horror manga I have ever read. And surely marked me.

I hate the ending but also it was the most realistic one. Might be the saddest ending I have ever read but it was also make sense.

I wanted to be the grandma when I am old. She was so badass. I didn't expect that she would be like that. She made me missed my late grandma from my mother's side. My grandma was so tough but always had good intentions like the grandma in this book.

This manga might be the scariest read I've read but it was the best reading experience for me yet too. I would pay for another experience of reading this book for the first time all over again.

Parasyte, Vol. 1

Wrote a review for

Ah how I missed reading manga and this one was such as a refreshing one! Remind me so much of "Assassination Classroom" though I believe this one originally released way before it.

This book is full of gore yet have dry comedy which so typical in manga. I found myself scoffed so many times because of said comedy.

The storyline was refreshing for me. Some were tense, some were sad. With the "parasite" theme going on, this was actually light and entertaining reading for me.

The ending was cliffhanger and I will definitely read other volumes until the story end. I am so curious on how the story and the characters will end up.

When the Day is Done

Wrote a review for

Ah my heart!!! So freaking warm and full because of this book. I was tearing up happily by how mature both Lucy and Aidan were. And how healthy their relationship was. I adored how they communicated their worries even when it was hard for them to express it. I loved how they openly discussed when something went hard. They deserved each other for real.

I don't know why but all three books from this series had me slow down and enjoyed every single words written. I was sad that this book is the end of this amazing series. I will definitely miss all of them and wish I could read them for the first times all over again.

VR Troopers

Wrote a review for

Actual rating: 3,75 stars!

To be honest I have never heard about VR Troopers until this book. I am familiar with Power Rangers since I was a little but not VR Troopers. I was kinda glad that I stumbled upon this book on NetGalley and got approved for the ARC, so I could introduce myself with "superheros" with Power Rangers vibes.

The storyline was actually solid. It was hard on quantum realm thingy. I understood the storyline quite well. Though there was part I found confusing. Particular part which I can't say without spoiling the book.

The cliffhanger though. If I knew this book would end in cliffhanger, I don't think I would read this until the next book(s) release.

Hometown Home Run

Wrote a review for

Actual rating: 3,75 stars!

It was actually good but I felt like there were so many repetitive things in the story. I understood that Kate, the heroine, had a problem with trusting people but it was dragging too long.

Cam, the hero, was indeed a hero. He was so perfect, like literally perfect. From the beginning to the end, I didn't find something slightly bad about him. He was too good to be true.

The plot with Kate's ex wanted custody of her daughter was also random. As long as the story was, there was no explanation on why Daniel, the ex, wanted the custody of Evie, the daughter. I thought there would be a hidden agenda of him wanted to connect with Evie.

I also kinda disappointed when there were no details when the lawyer asked Kate about her single-motherhood. I already prepared myself to cry. Though at the end I was tearing up due to the warmth of the community of Cedar Falls anyway.
