Honestly up there as one of if not the best volume of Berserk, this volume contains the absolutely brilliant Slain fight, but also the companions scene and the introduction of the Berserker armor, what more could you ask for in a volume

The return to Godo's cabin is beautiful 🥹🥹🥹 the point where the series really found what it would be for the rest of the run

This could've been a 10/10 as everything here was amazing, from the beautiful end to conviction the return of Griffith, and the fantastic art, but the Mosgus fight just DRAGS HARD and just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and onnnnnnnn so that's why it lost considerable points

What an amazing peak of the series not only is the Millennium Falcon arc the best arc in the series it is also the best start to ski anime arc I've ever read

Mosgus is a pretty boring villain tbh

The Griffith stuff in this arc isn't as good as the Guts stuff and it's still great, it just goes to show how amazing the Guts stuff was

Some insane shit here god damn, the point in the conviction arc where things go from crazy to out of this world (In a very good way)

Knowing who that boy is makes this very weird to look back on...

The cabin and trolls stuff is probably the weakest part of the arc but it's not bad persay I just think it is kinda dragged. I do love Shreike tho

Ganishka does lack some depth but man is he a cool ass villain

At the time of release this book was probably good but this story has been done better multiple times so now it's really just a boring and bland story

Too bad that this book absolutely pails in comparison to the movie, it really is a shame as the movie is absolutely amazing, and yet the book is a boring horror novel, oh well

A very weak start, Berserk is a fantastic series but the starting isn't it, it feels very I'm 14 and this is deep to be honest

HELL YEAH THIS IS IT

This is fantastic seeing Guts' heartbreaking backstory and the begining of Guts and the band of the hawk is amazing

Seeing Guts become a part of the band of the hawk is so wholesome (on a first read) 🥹🥹🥹

NOW THIS IS WHERE THE PEAK STARTS

This is where Berserk truly came into its own not only does it begin the masterpiece that is the Golden Age arc, it also has the absolute peak of the black Swordsman arc, especially after reading the entire series with us meeting Griffith for the first time

Even before the eclipse started this was fucking tragic, I think that even without the eclipse this volume would've been a 10, it's just the cherry on top of this absolutely tragic volume

The most impactful volume up to this point, the battle between Guts and Griffith is absolutely brilliant in every aspect, from the inner monologue to the setting to the art it's perfection

Guts and Casca is a top 3 romance oat

By far the most graphic up to this point...

The king and princess scene was disgusting as hell, and I'm not completely sure if it was needed, but the Guts and Casca scene is beautiful and probably the best sex scene of all time

The worst of the golden age

The ending foreshadowing and the scene with Guts and Griffith in the cart is amazing but everything else is just not good at all, Wyald is just uneeded, and I couldn't care less about him

A slower volume, but it needed to be that way after the absolute insanity of the eclipse, the series quite literally needed to build itself back up from the ground up, and it does it pretty well
