I honestly did not expect liking this as much as I did but considering how fucked up the whole thing is (arranged mafia marriage), the characters were really sweet. I loved how leved-headed Nina was. I wish more heroines were like her.
Harley Knight is a great discovery to me so far. I've really enjoyed her first opus despite the obvious flaws in her storytelling. She does write compelling stories and characters.
Honestly, this sounded much better than it actually was. It was a bit childish. Those characters that are supposed to be mature just read like whiny seventeen years old ruled by hormones.
I honestly did not expect much. I was so pleasantly surprised by this, I cannot wait to get my hands into the rest of this series. It was short, wasted no time, built up depth, connection which makes you incapable of not rooting for the characters.
This was a cute addition to this series. It's rare that an author manages to bring both spice and depth to a 100 pages novella but Laura Kaye always manages it!
