Why are all fantasy books a trilogy?

This is not a traditional romantic comedy. Absolutely nothing to laugh about the author's take on dating and marriage.

Why do fantasy novels always need a triptych? Is the middle one worth reading?

Lots of descriptive details. Audio book may have made following the timeline more difficult.

You care about the main characters- Finlay, Vero, and Nick - but the plot is just too madcap slapstick for me. I read but skim through the most implausible parts.
