I liked the idea but not the execution.

Too slow for me.

Maybe 3.5. There's a lot I really liked about this book, but I never developed any real emotional connection with it.

Uneven and with a beginning whose tone I found annoying. I'm also tired of the thing in books where everyone finds the main character to be so beautiful, but she's oblivious to it, and we never stop hearing about it.

Ultimately, though, this book excels at making the bonds between the characters pull wave over wave of emotions out of you. I was listening to the audiobook and during the last 1/4 of the book had to take breaks.
