This was one of my all time favorite reads as a child. I'm a bit afraid to read it now, and see how unlovely it is (if that's the case). I had no idea who Julie Andrews was when I read it (or at least I don't think I did).
Some of it was fun, but I was bored by the end. I bore easily however, so take this with a grain of salt.
Charlene Harris meets Regency Romance meets steam-punk, which sounds atrocious, but was quite nicely handled and simply loads of fun.
We stalled about 3/4s of the way through. I thought we'd never return, but 5 or so months later we did and were happy we did. It was clever, often dark and I enjoyed the fairy-tale meta commentary (to a point). I didn't like that it was the start if a series (although the boys did). I just wanted it to end.
Interesting, a good amount of dark, and a good amount of complexity. My only issue was that I listened to it, and Jim Dale drives me nuts.
I really wish I could give .5 stars, because I'd like to give this book 3.5 stars. One of my favorite reads in 2007. A lovely idea, well executed. I always looked forward to picking it up.
i'm not a big fan of self-help books, but I found this book useful. I'm not entirely successful with his system, but I do a fair imitation.
