This book was not for me, I found it overly alienating due to the magical realism overshadowing the character depth and believability for me. I found the first chapter the most interesting.
I think the bunnies are a metaphor for creative ideas, they are never perfect, “kill your darlings” is common thing to be said about the art you create. Her leap into losing her mind, we are not sure who really exists, and who is imaginative, Ava probably isn't real, while Joshua is the one that probably is real? Not sure.
I found the commentary on literature education and privilege interesting. But it was too unbelievable for me to be taken seriously. I've found that I cannot appreciate this kind of surrealism. I don't think it's a bad book, it just wasn't for me.

aweful, dreadful writing and the story.. what story, what plot? No character development whatsoever, the same words and words are used over and over again. Some inner goddess in a virgin?! and so so many WTF moment, so hyper unreal, while trying to be real. How is it this book is so popular?

I think I have now really figured out, that stories need to be grounded in reality for me, a little magical realism is fine, but gods and divine stuff, felt too far from reality, the story could not grab me. I can see it's a good book, the prose is beautiful at times, but for me the mythical setting and immortal stakes aren't my thing.

Couldn't get into it, didn't like the writing style.
