I cried. A lot

This book didn’t age well. Sometimes I’m surprised at what used to pass in children’s media as appropriate. One of the characters is Asian and the dialogue and stereotyping they wrote for him was awful. The story would have been fine if it weren’t for that.

This books was amazing. It’s like if Fight Club and Shutter Island meets Dexter. The first few chapters, some writing choices seemed to be weird. Then there was the first big reveal (1/3 of the way into the book) and it made the choices I was questioning make more sense. Great book, and I’m looking forward to reading the next one.

When I purchased this book, I expected to laugh. And I laughed embarrassingly hard in public while reading it. What I didn't expect was to cry. This book brought about so many emotions and I loved every minute of that roller coaster.

This is one of the creepiest and most unsettling books I've read but I couldn't put it down.

The ending kind of ruined it for me. It was an enjoyable enough mediocre 3 star read until the last few chapters where it got too cheesy and unnecessary. I don't understand the hype of Colleen Hoover

I started reading this books because the author was on tik tok reading the first chapter and it seemed silly. It turned out to be a really good book. The balance of satire and serious wove a tale that actually made me tear up a bit.

The story line was good. However, there were a lot of basic spelling and grammar errors that should have been caught in editing. Also the dialogue got a bit repetitive. That being said, I'd read more stories from this author in hopes that the technical side of writing gets smoothed out a bit with practice, because the story part was entertaining.

This book started so slow. The main character was annoying and she kept going back to what she was eating and how healthy it was despite it not actually being relevant to the story. The end was good but it took a while to get interesting.

It was interesting hearing his narration and thoughts behind major events that happened during his first presidency. He did get a bit into policy and the politics behind it all but did a pretty good job about keeping it interesting. I'm not sure I would have finished it if I hadn't listened to the audiobook though.

I found the main character to be annoying, but because her personality was annoying not because she was poorly written. Over all it was an entertaining story that held my interest. Cute for a free audio book.

This wasn't my favorite of this author's books. Infertility and r*pe were used to further the plot in a way that felt off to me. However, despite that, it was still a quick and interesting read and ended well.
I'm glad I read other things by this author first, because if this was my intro to her I'm not sure I would have picked up the others.

The story was intriguing and kept my focus and the ending did surprise me (I didn't think it would). But to me the writing felt a bit clumsy. Instead of leading us to conclusions, they were all announced, there was little buildup of suspense, so it wasn't as impactful, and it felt a bit rushed. The mother's inner narrative sometimes pulled me out of the story more than bringing me further in, and felt forced/unrealistic/repetative in places. This story has huge potential, but I feel as though it needed a little more depth and development to make it great. I will be giving his books another try at some point, maybe it was just this one that I didn't mesh with as well as I hoped.

This was my favorite book in the whole series, and quite possibly my favorite book I've read this year.

I loved this book. I love that the focus shifted to Nesta and gave her inner narrative.

This books started so slow. I was about to DNF it around 40% in before it got better. The second half was more interesting.

I think cute and sweet are the best words for this story. Makes for a nice, gentle story to help clean up from the previous book's war.

This was hands down my favorite in the series so far

This book was a nail biter from beginning to end. It had me questioning my own sanity the whole time. I was ready to be disappointed 3/4 of the way through but it came back around and finished better than I imagined, giving the main character a reasonable character ark without feeling too forced. I can't wait to watch the movie now too.

If you like psychological thrillers this is worth a read.

The beginning was a little slow. Once it picked up, the story was great and I could barely put it down. I thought there were going to be some mildly disappointing story lines but the epilogue really came through and finished the story wonderfully for me.
I will definitely read more from this author.

This story was great. I couldn't stop listening to it. At first I was expecting the 2 story lines to intertwine and was disappointed when they didn't seem to, but the end made up for it. Worth the read.

I re read it so I would be refreshed on the details before beginning the next book in the series and it was even more captivating than I remembered

This book ended up being better than I thought it would be. It was both entertaining and exciting. Some of the writing felt juvenile and forced, but overall an enjoyable read.

The show Dexter (which I saw before reading the book) clearly took the vibes and intention of this book without copying the story exactly and I loved that.

The way the ending of this book had me crying in a public space is mildly embarrassing.

It's a cute and easy read that turn quite emotional, and despite having an idea how it might end, it still got me.
