I rather loved this southern gothic story! It really leans into the horrors of the south's past, with an emphasis on how often time the power to change things in large ways is only allotted to those already unfairly in power, while those below have to struggle or luck out to get ahead. I enjoyed the main characters, and the grappling with self. Overall, I think the story handled itself very well, and showed one person's struggle against the ghosts of his past, both metaphorical and real.

This is very strange so far, and has some problematic themes, but I am incredibly interested as to where exactly the narrative is going with this. The art is very good, I love the expressions.

A little too much tell and not show at the beginning, but I did wind up rather liking the world and characters by the end!

Points for keeping me watching, horrified, until the end. Not something I enjoyed.
