See allI rather loved this southern gothic story! It really leans into the horrors of the south's past, with an emphasis on how often time the power to change things in large ways is only allotted to those already unfairly in power, while those below have to struggle or luck out to get ahead. I enjoyed the main characters, and the grappling with self. Overall, I think the story handled itself very well, and showed one person's struggle against the ghosts of his past, both metaphorical and real.
