Germany was a pharmaceutical giant in the early 20th century, leading them to discover, now notorious, drugs like meth and Vicodin. Society at the time didn’t know the effects so everyone was taking them. Seriously, every German in society was popping meth and cocaine for little things like a headache.
Anyways this book details how hard drugs not only took a role but was CENTRAL to the German war machine. And in later years, how dependent hitler was on every drug imaginable.
fun, whimsical book about wizards, goblins, talking bears, and many more. I was surprised by how quickly I flew through the pages. Really interesting and I can see why it’s a classic
Before Che Guevara was a was one of the most influential revolutionaries in Latin and South America, he embarked on a motorcycle roadtrip to see every South American country he could. This book is his diary entries of that trip where we get to see him practice medicine, flirt with his landlords wife, hustle for the modern equivalent of $5, see tragic Inca ruins, and play cards with strangers. His perspective is incredibly introspective and humanist, giving you context for what lead him to be such a successful leader.
Life changing book, I strongly recommend.
I can’t recommend this book enough. Through interviews, shadowing Elon, and extensive research, Walter Isaacson is able to piece together to Elon’s upbringing and the his persona. As I read this book, I noticed the same pattern that brings and threatens to ruin Elon’s success. He goes into manic mode, rips everything apart and pieces it back together via his “algorithm”, brings stability, then goes back to manic mode.
Elon is seriously a mad scientist. Although he is controversial now, you can’t help but give him props for changing the world through his landmark companies.
