The Cat Saw Murder

Don’t really get into it. There’s been a few of the older golden age stories where I just don’t feel the story and the characters are dull to me. I think I will pick some of the older stories more carefully in the future.

It's a book of it's time btw, sexist and such.

Death Comes to Pemberley

“You are mounting quite an impressive expedition to satisfy one hysterical woman.”

Started out okay but slowed down too much for me.

I assume there’s some good research done and there’s plenty of facts on how the legal system is working at the time. Which isn’t great fun.

Also some repetition from the original book and the characters are not popping. Jane Austens characters are coming straight at you but not here, flat.

Athena's Child

I don’t really get the point. The gods are assholes, the end.

Why is Athena such a b*tch?

Murder on the Dancefloor

The characters, even though I struggle to remember names or who’s who are likable and fleshed out. But there’s not much of a puzzle here, and I don’t recall it being much of a puzzle in the first book either but kind of fun but I would like more focus on the mystery.

Bara ett litet mord

I guess I need to accept that Swedish “mysdeckare” or as this was labeled “cosy crime” are not the same as cozy mystery.

This is not an amateur sleuth saving the day when the police fails for one or more reasons. This is a actor moving to the country and we have a parallel typical Swedish crime story along side it. The cop does the work and the amateur sleuth is not needed.

Who knew you’d relate to much to a bot. A little nervous to read more, what if the rest aren’t as good?

I hate having emotions about reality; I’d much rather have them about Sanctuary Moon.

Same Murderbot, same.

I was lied to. It’s marketed as a cozy mystery but it’s more a soft thriller (if that's a thing).

No proper sleuthing. Unlikable characters. Crap dad and daughter that is supposed to be… 30 and acts like a teenager?

A very meh kind of book which I wouldn’t have bothered with if I had know it wasn’t a proper cozy.

Queen Hereafter

I don’t have much (read close to none) knowledge about the time period this story is set or of Shakespeares Macbeth.

There were plenty of things here I liked, a girl gets told a prophesy as a child and does her best to make it true which leads her to become vain, ambitious and not very likable. Her not being likable is not an issues for me, she’s a victim of her own making after hear the prophesy.

I liked but needed more, prophesy, court politics, druid magic, Macbeth, and Ardith.

Will pick up some more Shakespearian fanfic.

Five Families: The Rise, Decline, and Resurgence of America's Most Powerful Mafia Empires

Wrote a review for

I don’t want rate it. (I have no idea how to remove stars, ooops) It’s well written and research. It’s very much a non fiction without trying to charm the reader so not something to read for fun.

If you’ve seen the Godfather you will recognize a lot of the events.

PS. So weird to read a positive portrait of Rudy Giuliani.
