After I read this book I did not want to continue with the series because I thought I'd be cheating on Katsa and Po. Fantasy and romance are my downfalls and anything that captures both in such a delicious way, as this book did, creates a spectacular read.
What a ride this was. First all, I do not recommend starting these two books at 11pm and reading through the night until 4am. Because these books make you feel crazy and trying to function on an hour of sleep while trying to digest them make you question the stability of your mental health.
Saying that, highly recommend.
I rarely write book reviews but as I was sipping my morning coffee, listening to The Night We Met, contemplating if I would've fallen into Shay's trap... yeah I probably would. I did during the story. I felt all of Mina's emotions, felt the protectiveness from Shay and how she was scared for everyone else's lives if she didn't comply. But also basked in the sick satisfaction when he comes to her rescue, ready to burn the school down.
Poor Shay was seriously messed up from his upbringing and you can seriously empathize with him. But gosh he was a true psychopath. It's unbelievable, believable that he did that to her mother. Truly unforgivable.
It's unfortunate that we never learned the fate of James because he was the absolute worst human being. He ruined everyone's lives willingly.
10/10 will read again and destroy myself.
