This book doesn’t aim to spread panic, but rather to show how we can succeed in building a future worth living for everyone. A clear, though at times slightly repetitive, explanation of the major challenges and possible solutions based on the two scenarios “Too Little Too Late” and “Giant Leap” of the Earth4All model.
In 2026, reading this book was unfortunately less hopeful for me than it might have been in the year of its publication, since I don’t feel that we are even on the path toward the “Too Little Too Late” scenario right now, but a worse one. Furthermore, fundamental changes in our political and financial system are required to enable the “Giant Leap” scenario, which are hard to believe for me to happen in this decade and difficult to influence for individual citizens.
A book everyone should read and send to their local politicians.
Die phantastische Abenteuerreise des Konstantin O. Boldt wird in Form eines Reiseberichtes erzählt. Durch die "Abbildung" von Dokumenten wie Briefe und Zeitungsartikel in unterschiedlichen Formaten und Schriftarten wirkt das Ganze sehr authentisch, auch wenn es dadurch stellenweise nicht ganz leicht zu lesen ist. Passend zum Format variieren die Details der Einträge zu den verschiedenen Reiseereignissen, wegen der gelungenen Mischung aus Fantasy und wissenschaftlichem (Be)schreiben hätte ich an der ein oder anderen Stelle gerne noch ausführlichere Beschreibungen gelesen. Ich liebe die wunderschönen, vielfältigen und detailreichen Abbildungen, die ich mir am liebsten als großformatige Prints an die Wand hängen würde! Alles in allem ein wunderschön gestaltetes und manchmal nachdenklich stimmendes Buch.

I would have liked this 2018 edition to have included an additional chapter that described developments after 1904 in more detail than the brief glimpse in the introduction.
