Death on the Nile

Wrote a review for

Good story ! It was an enjoyable read. Didn't expect it.

There are some parts that prove it was written in 1937.

Deliverywoman

Wrote a review for

They are short stories about different kinds of characters and about how each of them live with or fight against their loneliness.

I personally found it difficult to get immersed in the stories. But it might be because of my current headspace.

I felt disappointed because I felt like some stories were cut short and I was left wanting more, wanting to know the rest of the story.

I really liked Twinning and Family reunions.

Iconicon: A Journey Around the Landmark Buildings of Contemporary Britain

Wrote a review for

Really interesting. The author describes by decades the history of the buildings and their social and political contexts.

As a non native English speaker but frequent reader of English books, it is still a difficult read and some notions got lost on me.

Also, because I'm not well informed on the politics of Great Britain, I couldn't understand some parts. That would be an opportunity for me to read more about that.

For those two reasons, it is a complex book but where there is so much to learn and would need a second read. I recommend it for those who like architecture, who want to understand why a certain building was constructed and how it got to a point where homelessness got so high.
