I am hooked on this series. I love the characters, the setting, the subtle humor and so much more.??

I liked the premise of the doors and the way they connect to the art of stories. Also, the main character was one formwhom I rooted all the way through. The pace was too slow for me and the peril wasn't suspenseful enough for my tastes.??

The description of life aboard a 17th century merchant vessel is rich and engrossing. Listening to the excellent audio book version took me from my land-locked mid-western location to the high seas of the Indian Ocean. A great story with engaging and clever twisty mystery.??

The concept at the heart of this semi-fantastic novel is intriguing. Unfortunately, the story could be more engaging, exciting and thrilling. Not terrible, but not as good as I thought it would be.??

A crazy concept for a dystopia. Yet one which feels familiar in this era of book banning and curricular censorship. Clever writing which illustrates the way that speech becomes difficult and banal when powerful groups ban forms of discourse.??
