Such a wonderful read - I have had this book on my TBR list for about 6 months, and I've been waiting for a good chance to read it.
I was surprised by how a book with such dark subject matter could feel so light a read - often the ones which mention serial killers, kidnapping, torture, etc are not exactly tough reads, but fairly heavy. Butcher & Blackbird wasn't at all like that and managed to walk the tightrope between being blase about a topic and being a difficult read emotionally.
Sloane and Rowan were fun characters. I am not sure they were explored as fully as they could be - it is a series where each couple only gets a single book but standalone books do manage it. It's not that they didn't feel complete as people, just that there were a lot of unexplained ideas introduced but nothing more done with them. This may be explained later in the series (which I am definitely continuing) and I hope it is, because Brynne Weaver is a great writer and I want more!
