See allWell.... I have mixed feelings on this book. I really had my hopes up, people said Robin writes like Libba Bray and Stephen King (two of my faves) but...unfortunately I did not like the style nor the story really.
Let me explain. First this is how the book goes /_____/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ (those are the ups and downs in this book) not a HUGE fan of feeling like I'm being thrown around. I am also huge on character development and this did not have a lot. It's almost as though the book concentrated on too many people to really dig in, and absorb the characters.
The story line is small town goes crazy after a storm (thats all I can really say without giving away the story). I had to PUSH myself to get through this and unfortunately I was not happy. There were some funny parts and some really sad parts that were good but overall I just could not get myself to like this book no matter how hard I tried.
what...what...what?!? I cant even...... As other people said the second book was even more twisted than the first. I cant give it 5 stars because I am still...the ending.... WHAT?!? Its hard to review this book because I am trying very hard to not give spoilers. Please read this book if you liked the first. Yes parts were slow but it is worth it.
Michelle Hodkin did no disappoint and keep you on your feet the entire series.
Ugh.
Ugh.... This series had such potential. I LOVED the first two books. And honestly loved up to the middle of this book. But towards the middle it gets......annoying. It is SO up and down. Literally one minute your happy the next you want to cry and then RIGHT after that its like you were never sad because something else happened and America just forgets the sad.
I feel the last book was poorly written towards the end and felt....rushed. If you read it you will understand. Especially the last 10 chapters. Because it was rushed I couldn't truly enjoy it. It seems the author almost lost interest or couldn't find anywhere else for the book to go and found the most ‘interesting' way to rush to the end. Sadly this made the ending to the book poor.
Please read the series, it is worth it. The last book just isn't up to par compared to the rest of the series.
This book was very good on its own, but was nothing compared to the first one but I feel like most sequels are a let down compared to the first one. What I really liked was the time period most of the book took place in, which was the in London 1940's. The pictures were not a disappointment and in the beginning there was almost like a yearbook set up showing you pictures of the characters as well as names and relations/powers. I am very excited for the third book and hope that they story is just as good and compelling as the first book!
