Loved this when I was a kid, and love it more now ❤️❤️

Heard about this book for years with lots of high praise (esp from creative writing profs). Definitely should have read it early - incredibly beautiful and poetic. Love how rhetorical concepts are woven into some of the essays, and love the through line of language failing.

I was worried that knowing the ending would ruin the book, but it was really enjoyable the whole way through! I think Poirot is perhaps a gay man.

Informative without being too prescriptive. Can seem a bit gatekeep-y at times, but seems to be all in the interest of spreading honest knowledge.

A love letter to writers and writing, felt like sitting and talking with a friend.
