Ever wanted to see a story where the main character would simply like to be left alone. Oh and it is on a different planet in the future where somethings are very different and humanity is both hopeful and self sabotaging. Good story some pacing points I had a little trouble with but enjoyed the ride to the end.
Similar to the first collection in the series we have a strong set of murder mystery story lines set against a 30s era America. Elements of race, sexism, and main characters that hold ideals different then much of the surrounding cast. We get to see the relationship with Dian and Wesley evolve over the various story archs in a satisfying manner. Additionally, we gain the first bit of insight into the butler like character of Humphreys and some fleshing out of other characters as well. All said a solid continuation of the series.
Darrow, Servo, Pax, oh where to start. Martyrdom, sci fi, world building, consistent fast paced action scenes, if any of these sound good to you this may be a worthy read for you. To me this felt like Hunger games meets Warhammer 40k if that gives any reader of this something to work with. For a basic synopsis the existing descriptions do it fair justice but I would say be prepared to stick with the main character Darrow through some transformation, plot twists, and some crazy adaption to changing circumstances. My one critique is hopefully resolved later in the series but aside from Darrow many of the other characters could be fleshed out more. I enjoyed my time here and from what I have heard the series only gets stronger as you move further into the series. So guess I am in for quite a ride.
Political intrigue, villainy, and grand humor. At this point in the series it feels like the cast is all on stage and the setup of the situation has been established allowing for the action to commence. As the stakes raise and we see further detail on the characters I feel more invested and look forward to seeing where it goes from here.
A fan of the story line characters, was nice to see Stefan's van. The art is good and enjoyed the prequel portion. For graphic novel adaptions of this work I recommend it but would suggest those with time and interest take the time to read the novels as well and use this as a nice quick refresher or visit back to familiar territory.
A fun blend of superhero and young adult coming of age themes. Midoriya our protagonist is a poignant example of someone with the drive to do good but without the advantages more common to those he is growing up around.
For those who may already be familiar with the anime it is still an enjoyable story to revisit and catch some of the notes by the author and artist.
