Best book I've read in the last 5 years.

This book had:
-beliable conversations. A group of friends whom didnt keep in touch for some years but return to make sheananigans and they feel like real people.
-a proper demon husband. Often in books you have this uber powerful creature tha has been living for centuries but somehow still knows how to use cellphones and pine for the object of his love/obsession/etc. Here the demon is funny and does not understand your petty ramblimgs about basic needs like food and water because its busy making deals with the souls of your friends.
-A muslim woman that it is middle aged and tall and isnt a bigot as protagonist. She believes in double tap for god measure in killing but also in not being a hero now to fight another fight.
-realistic family. there's a daugther waiting with her gradma to the adventures of the protag
-sea voyage
-common ground w/me abot was is and isn't a compliment by a man (it is feminist? the evidence point to yes)
-a concil of snob magical birds

It is a refreshing read ofter seat gripping.

the only one that does not leave you hanging, so the best one. skip s*x scenes.

Riculous but kinda funny. Mostly felt embarased for the heroine and second hand embarassment for everyone else but there were some real life laughs of the stupid petty one up shit contest going. At the end I didn't want that romance crap, I skiped the sexy parts I just wanted them to torture each other in stupid ways...guess I'm having a cinycal month as I usually adore romance stories.

Top moments: lady lunch punches a croissant sandwich in front of the board.The cousin devises an over the top italian mob / street rat/ gigolo tragic backstory for a 5 seconds appearence character and shaenanigans ensue

I cried.
The characters feels like people I've met, their reactions seem real. The ending was satisfying.

Haven't read the 1st one. This book has solid characters and an epic stroy line...but for me it was like a stab in the gut for personal reasons. It's not a bad book but I know that I'll never read it again but will remeber it vividly.

Very funny but open ending...

Holy shit! This book, it's a coming of age story...it took me to some places haunted and lonely and what it means to survive and keep living.

Btw that weiner dog was an example of why the rule “show, don't tell” is told to writers.

Bland as f*ck. So utterly unmemorable.
This novel had that thing some authors do in wich when there is something happening or a dialogue, they drop in the middle of the conversation/action to have a 3 paragraph description of something, preferably the gushing look of the male protag or the mind ramblings of the girl. Then continue as nohing happens. It makes me crazy. It makes me want to reread some Ilona Andrews, where action is action, dialogue is dialogue and descriptions are sprinkled along but moderately.
Also: Why does everybody have to be pregnant to be a HEA

waste of pixels.

It's like Ilona Andrews awesomness with the exception that the hero is not rich or in charge of other people (and so much better for it). In Space. With punches, spaceships, assholes, and lots of cunning with a bucket of luck.

Utter rubbish
I remember liking her Eidolon books, so decided to give this a try. Literally I just sighed in real life.

The worst offenders in this:
Cunnus
This word was introduced in the middle of a list of sexual things so when I first read it I assumed it implied some kind of annal sex, see evidence A "Images of him taking her in a myriad of ways, his cock sliding into her mouth, her cunnus, between her buttocks. " Cunnus is totally the love son of cunt and annus and nobody can't deny it. It means vagina, the author really reaaally didn't want to write vagina so this is the chosen word.
Maybe it's just me and I skipped that development stage in wich you search dirty words in a thesaurus and proceed to giggle ankwardly, but then, english is not my first language.

Power structure of the relashionship m/f
Martise is a slave in 98% of the book. Silhara didn't treat her like one at the start of the romantic relashionship but that doesn't make her a free woman since he is his Master. Also at the first hint of problems, instead of talking, he reverts to enforce this imbalance in power, asking her to call him master and being assholish again.

Unmemorability of the characters
In two weeks I'm not going to remember Marise or Silhara, maybe Gurn the mute helper since he was more interesting. I just didn't care much for them while I was reading, and everytime somebody remarked that the dog smelled bad I was just thinking when are they going to bathe him? Poor hound! You irresponsible pet owners. Spoiler alert Nobody washed the dog.
The thinks I liked: The oranges, the lych scenes, the demon dog.

Best Mihalik book so far.

Funny and warm. Made me chuckle in the middle of a worldwide pandemic.

I guess that if I got feels about a story, its a good one. I cryed and laughed while living this one.
Wanted to slap people around, included Ezra, but I guess it's YA and adolescent people get a pass on grandiose stupid shit.
