I was looking forward to starting this and enjoyed the first 20% ish, but after that it became so tedious with the excessive amount of detail that it felt like a slog.
It's obviously incredibly well researched and perhaps it was too long a period to cover, perhaps it was the author's way of writing, but it was way too long and overwritten to be that enjoyable in the end.
