Only took me 16 days to read this.. but it's one of the most fast paced books I've ever read. The start of it was slow, it took me 15 days to read the first 50 pages but the rest of it? SO FAST and I reckon people could read this whole trilogy in one day.
Loved the characters and story although it was confusing at times. in LOVE with the writing.
actually excited to read the next book for once!
14 year old me would've liked this.. but I'm nearing 22 and it's showing because YA doesn't hit like it used to.
the characters lost all personality in this book, they were all stereotypes (chubs= no longer a character, just a guy that pops in to say something smart) etc.
I'm sick of YA characters having morals 24/7
“Oh I can't kill this villian! That will make me as bad as him!” No it won't, KILL HIM, you'd be saving more lives but killing the villian omg
Liked it at first, a solid 3 star book but after hitting the half way mark the story just got ridiculous.
It felt like watching a law and order episode, just one you'd skip.
The story is about a detective Rachel but she was barely there in the story. Yes she was the detective but she's supposed to have this huge backstory but it was mentioned in passing twice. Her character remained 2D, she wasn't a character but rather a piece of wet cardboard.
The story started off good but I guessed what (or who) done it pretty quick and the rest was just.. not unbelievable but I feel like it could've been written better.
The end was so rushed and there was no emotion at all.
Entertaining but I don't care for the characters or the story. It's just action packed and keeping me pulled into the story but it has nothing else going for it. Very average but still very entertaining which I why I can't rate it below a 3 stars
Makes me miss the 2012 dystopian days when these books hit different
if 2012 was a book.. this would be it.
Ya 2012 was a great time but also very sinister and no, I cant explain.
this was a re-read bc I DNFed the second book a million years ago and the series has been on my shelf for years, judging me for not finishing it. I forgot everything that happened so I had to start from the start again. Turns out that I remember every detail in the book (the characters looked , how the inside of the car looked) everything was the same as the first time that I read it but the only thing I couldn't remember well was the story.
anyways it was entertaining and ive bumped it from a 2 star to a 3 star (well a 2.75 but we round up things around here)
would recommend to anyone who misses the old Ya dystopian days
I never DNF books but wtf was this book??
I got 70% through it and I really can't force myself to finish it. It's so atrocious.
For a book about having a presence on the internet, it really didn't know much about social media and how people act on there.
It was cringey (I hate that word but I don't know how else to describe it) and the story read like a 12 year olds daydream scenarios. Not realistic in the slightest and it had many things left unaddressed (that maybe get addressed in the last 30% but I doubt it)
Would recommend for 10-13 year olds tbh
re-reading a favourite can be a hit or miss, you either don't like it as much as the first time or like it just the same
but this book was 10000x times better the second time. This has always been a 5 star book to me but its been 5 years since I read it and i wanted to re-fresh myself on this story (even though this is a book I remember every detail from and ive watched the movie a couple million times)
this is the only book that had me nervous, so nervous that I had to put the book down. I knew what was going to happen but my heart still hammered in my chest.
