Went into this with low expectations because of how much I hated daisy jones and the six but wow.. I'm blown away

I felt like I knew Evelyn Hugo personally (and every other character too!)
I just want to have more Evelyn Hugo stories but she's not real and ugggghh

so happy I finally read this!

extremely underwhelming.
could not tell the characters apart from one another and they all had no personality.

Spoilers ahead but not really, just vague stuff about the plot twist

the plot twist wasn't predictable, I didn't guess who it was but I would've rather it had been because when it was revealed who did it.. so underwhelming.
It could've of been any other person and it would've been fine but really? boring.

One word: WOW

maas never disappoints

reread: so last time i was sick and didn't remember a single thing so i read it again and yeah it was average, i will read the second book and maybe watch the show? Better than the grisha trilogy lol

no rating because my brain didn't take anything in, I restarted the book 3 times and still nothing. I finished it but couldn't remember a thing.
I'll re-read this later in the year and give it a rating then!
it has a nice writing style though!

I was so excited to read this bc the plot sounded really unique and exciting but yeah...

so thought provoking!

I always love an open ending and this one didn't disappoint

This book has made my day.
Such a sweet yet sad story about love and death that I would love to re-read in the future

I found this sweet song about this book and I loooove it!

2.5 but leaning towards 2 stars

The start was so good and I was enjoying myself but the second half of the book wasn't as great :/

very average. It felt like nothing happened the entire book (even though stuff happened) and the whole tone of the book felt so flat and well.. boring.
The plot twist was obvious.
I liked reading it but its not a book ill think about again after today.

The best little black classic I've read yet!
It's comforting but also scary to know that humans really haven't changed since this book was written in the 1600s.

it was entertaining but I just cant handle the main character.
She left kittens in a car to go party.
She is “not like other girls”
She picked a fight with a toddler.
She throws herself into insanely dangerous situations and gets mad at people who worried for her.
Yeah, she was going through grief and probably wasn't thinking but it just happened way too often.

The other characters had so much personality while the main character was so bland, how??!??

Ok i re-read it and i'm bumping it up to a 5 star from my previous 3 star rating... so much emotion and love in so few words and it makes me want to buy all the work from the author

I might re-read this soon to understand it better. It fit so much emotion in 55 pages and yeah, would love to come back to this soon!

OH. MY. GOD.
This is one of the best things ive ever read.
I finished it and squealed, its THAT good.

Re-read: very average but worse this time

it was average but not in a good way

Re-read: Better than the first read but still boring. Also Jonathan swift is a big fat liar... he really tried to convince us that he accidentally rode a dogs back for 200 yards and used it's tail as a bridle... sure Jono

this book is only 52 pages long but I wanted to DNF so bad. I reeeeally didn't like this

didn't really like this sadly. I enjoyed her other book Dept. of Speculation which is why I thought I would enjoy this book too but yeah nah.

absolutely phenomenal. My favourite Stephen King book yet!
I can't wait to re-read this in the future!

This is my 3rd re-read and the story gets more gross and disturbing every time. I wanted to read this again bc I wanted to read a really sad book and this is one of the most heartbreaking books ever.

But it does have its bad side. I can't read this without wanting to vomit. I can't support maya and lochans relationship, and I never would in real life. their relationship makes me want to vomit.

If you want to read this, yes it will be sad but be prepared to cringe and dry retch a lot!

I'm in looooove with this book.
it's based slightly on a true story which sends shivers up my spine. I can't imagine being forced to be a food taster, not knowing that the meal in front of you could be your last.

This book was so fast paced and it would take 3 hours max to finish. It took me 3 days because everytime I picked up the book life's responsibilities called so that sucked but I'm glad I took 3 days to read it because savouring this book was worth it!

It started off so good and I loved it but then.... yeah. Just went downhill from there.

Loveddddd it!
I would love to read about eleanors life, no matter how “boring” it is, for hours and hours.
I liked the plot twist and I liked the plot but I just reaaaally liked Eleanor as a character and she kinda reminded me of Lou from Me Before You, a character I would also love to read about for hours!

[1st read]a really fun read! Wailing ghosts was the worst story in it though :/

[2nd read] raised it to a 4 star. Highly entertaining

Charlotte bronte did warn at the start that the beginning of the book was boring..and it was but she did warn me so can I be mad about it?

I really enjoyed the chapters where Caroline and Shirley were together. All the other chapters were a hit or miss.

The last 100 pages were a bit boring to me, if they weren't then this book would be a 4 star :)

A book that's an easy mood booster!
It made me snort and had me hiding my laugh in public, definitely worth the $24 I spent on this book.

It would be 5 stars but his jokes in the 00s and teens were too... “I'm old and don't understand young people things” and it got repetitive and i didn't like it lol

2.75 stars
It was entertaining sometimes but most of the time I just wanted it to be over. Cassandra Clare books aren't as good as they were back in 2014, I don't know if it's because my taste has changed or if it's because Cassandra Clare has run the shadow hunter world dry.
