A lot of different tropes mixed into the military fantasy. A story of an orphan's rise from obscurity.. actions having consequences. Well detailed. Sometimes there were parts of the story that I just wanted to skip over but it wasn't necessarily huge sections. A few paragraphs over the details that made my eyes glaze over.
Overall, it was a decent read and I may even give the rest of the series a chance. An enjoyable read.
A science-fiction/fantasy classic. For a reason. Well-written but there are defiantly parts you feel like you need to just plough right through. Knowing a bit about the world and the type of plot-line... but also that the movies are different than the book is defiantly worth it, IMO. Without this knowledge, I can defiantly see where it may be difficult to ingest much of the worldbuilding and political grasp of it. However, I've also read this book twice thus far and plan on reading it again.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I borrowed this from the library but I am glad I picked it up! A new book just published in August 2023. It’s less than a year old at this point.
I heard about this guy’s journey to finding his parents on a video & decided to read the book he wrote. I couldn’t put it down! The gasps at some of the shocking news were real.. causing my husband to wonder what I was reading.
Not what I see as my typical book but one I’m going to put on my to buy list.
