I read my dad's old paperback copy of this as a kid. Now as an adult I was looking for a relaxing book and I picked it up again. I was pleasantly surprised to find that nothing really bad happens in this book. Sure he has his dangers and difficulties with trying to survive in the wilderness, but he does fine without major traumas. The story becomes a love letter to nature, and a tale of creative solutions to making a home in the woods.

This was a favorite childhood book of mine, chosen simply because it was about wolves with wolves on the cover. I adored it, and was pleasantly surprised to find now that it’s actually part of a trilogy. So back in I went.

It holds up, I think. Only slightly fast and nondescriptive the way YA books usually are. You can still see and feel everything, even if some appearances of characters are vague. I love the varied personalities. The plot is just complex enough. The emotions and behaviors are described wonderfully vividly. And I'm excited for the sequel I've never read!

I read this book as a child and it always stuck with me. I was excited to find this book at an antique store and reread it two decades later. Its believable characters and outlook of a young boy, the setting and time is done well and believable. My favorite part is how Bud describes things and how they feel to him. It's so vivid and real. We are pulled along his journey with twists in the road and in the plot! And it's lovely and challenging. The end has me wishing to learn more of how his life went...

I read this in high school, and I've kept my book for years. It often comes to mind when I contemplate what my favorite book is. There is something about the descriptive imagery in so many scenes, and the way the emotions are so intensely felt and described by the main character that stuck with me. The settings are vivid in my mind, the twists and pulls of emotion through her journey and how she learns new things and grows and changes, as well as those around her... It's absolutely wonderful. Heartbreaking and vivid and beautiful.

Found this book at random and very glad I did. A colorful vivid exploration of the shore/swamp life in historic America, a woman with intelligence far beyond the imagination of her judgemental town-dwellers... and a murder. I couldn't put it down, inside the mind of someone misunderstood and craving what every human craves... I guess I could relate in ways. It is very human, and thus holds cruelty. Especially towards the unknown. But the plot resolves itself in a believable and satisfying way. My favorite aspect of the story was the way in which our main character felt and described her feelings vividly.

I watched Ghosthunters from the start and met some of them, always a big fan. Ami writes about the hunting she continued even after the show ended. Her writing is genuine and vivid, sharing heartwarming experiences and spooky occurrences. You feel like you are there with her. Most crucially, she explains the importance of intending to understand and help the spirit in any way you can.

Found this book at random, and very glad that I did. Though it is 8th in a series, you would have fooled me. I followed it with no issue. A vividly written exploration of political vs scientific values, and how scientific often aligns with heart. "Rogue" explorers chase a transmission into space against their governments will, a long and taxing ordeal despite the far-future technology, passing through walls of time and discovering life in ways they never could have expected... despite this, the book shines with very human values and feels warm

This book has the heart of its iconic predecessor, the beauty of nature and survival, but it focuses more on chasing the main character's sister and busting falcon theifs than it does on the survival aspect. I was seeking another comfortable and informative nature experience like the first book was. This was different. But still a good read.

this book was sitting out in a free pile so I gave it a shot. a cute and quaint story, a bit predictable, the romance not so interesting to me, but I enjoyed the unraveling of her grandmother's mystery and the descriptions of the small town

these books so far are more focused upon iconic humor sprinkled in to a very complicated plot with not much imagery or character growth. it's fun! but not my usual kind of book, and yet the suspense keeps me reading this wild series

enjoying going through this series. this book is a great sequel, but the magical aspects were a little unexpected. the spirit wolf sightings were in book 1 so it makes sense. I was left in suspense after every reading session. the growth and changes are gradual and reasonable. excited for book 3!!

not my usual sort of novel, it is more reliant on action and dialogue rather than description and emotion. but I am glad to broaden my horizons, and pleasantly surprised at how much the feeling behind every Klingon action is instilled within the reader. The characters make an impression and stay with me. love the inclusion of worf, Picard, and Alexander as well.

a beautiful trilogy. well written and gripping, emotional and interesting. but such a sad unsatisfied ending.

My partners favorite book, and I can see why. The writing is beautiful. To be seen by this author is to be loved. The imagery is so clear and evocative, fantastical but grounded. The story is smaller and grander at the same time. The book focuses on places drenched in relationships and the complexities of both. The psychology of Gatsby is at once rare and relatable. To long for something and build a life around it, a mask, a yearning, anything desperate to be unlost. The ending took me by such complete surprise and shock. I couldn't wait to finish the story and stayed up late needing to know it's outcome. The beauty and tragedy of longing to feel known.

A tale of dark whimsy, easy to imagine in tim burton style. A fairy tale, silly and amusing. I liked when the villan's henchman makes fun of him and how cartoony the villain is. The audiobook has amusing voices and sound effects

I'm enjoying my journey through the Discworld series - the main characters here do grow and change gradually into realizing what they truly want. Magic takes more of a backseat, it's a welcome slower pace. I'm left wanting more however

I remember seeing this book a lot as a child and never got to read it. Today it came to me freely and I'm glad for it. Ida B is rooted in early 2000s Americana countryside and public school. Her mind thinks and feels so deeply and it resonates with my neurodivergent one. Anxiety, OCD, whatever it may be. There are deep worries and deep empathy and trying to harden a heart that is surrounded by love and failing. A beautiful book.

It touched me personally and thus receives a higher rating even when it is written for the youth. In simple words still a vivid image and feeling in the moment is illustrated and felt

This made the first book feel like a mere prologue. Real trauma healing happening here. Twists and turns that are surprising but make sense. Growing power that doesn't feel out of place. Emotions and relationships so strong and layered. Especially in the second half I couldn't put it down. And just when I thought things were calming they rise back up again, but in an exciting hopeful way. I am excited for the next one.

A lovely fairytale grounded in nature with a variety of character and relationships. A lot of action and not as much imagery, except for the nature and food. It's a satisfying story, it's adorable

This book took me to such a wide variety of settings and emotions and relationships that I didn’t expect. The societal zeitgeist of Frankenstein is honestly insulting to the depth it truly holds.
