It's definitely a solid book that has some incredible world building, but the main characters fell a little flat.

I love the mother daughter relationship building in this. It really spoke to me. This book definitely showed me I have more of an adult perspective... But I really think this is such an amazing way to show a mother daughter relationship as well as a relationship with an immigrant mother and her daughter. I think my biggest hangup was that there didn't really need to be any romance in it at all. It definitely pulled away from the message of the novel.

My feelings are so conflicted.

After having a day to think about it, I have a review.

This was not what I was expecting at all in the best way! The protagonist was easy to be charmed by and I loved that Diem was trying to find herself without going by the path that was carefully laid out for her. I also felt moved by her empathy as a healer.

I thought the world building was so well done and very thoughtful. It felt like a fantasy story that was familiar but also completely new! It's been such a long time since a book hooked me from the start and practically forced me to have it in multiple formats to make it easier to read. I was looking forward to the next book so much that I already purchased it only 1/3 of the way through!!

Why did this bring actual tears to my eyes at some points?

Okay.... I'll admit it, I DNFed this book earlier than I usually do. But 65 pages was enough. That was pure suffering.

Playful and predictable. But books are my love language, so the idea of someone making a scavenger hunt with clues that are lines in books is too good.

This book was so sweet and romantic. I loved the town and the romance was so well paced and fun to read.

Parts of this were incredibly well done and I also struggled because of the content. But it felt really heavy handed at some portions too. Definitely a good starter read for looking at books with strong feminist vibes with some great LGBTQ representation.

That ending got me. Not gonna lie.

I loved this. Such an interesting and gritty story that I looked forward to listening to. Even if the twist was relatively obvious, I still was surprised at how it all came out.

This was such a sweet take on being weird and how everyone is too. Parts of it felt very oddly paced, but I definitely recommend this to teens or anyone else who feels like their interests are too outside the norm.

Entertaining and predictable with a few twists i didn't see coming. Definitely a good listen.

Honestly, pretty boring and predictable but I had a good time.

This is the best of the series. My biggest issue has just been how much is crammed into these books. It got to the point towards the end where I couldn't place the side characters anymore and I kept having to pause to figure out who each character was. I was pretty lost towards the end. But the storyline was interesting enough to keep me reading. Not a favorite at all but definitely entertaining.

This was so sweet and funny. I loved the small town setting most of all. But I absolutely hate miscommunication.

This book was almost too long. How did I make it through this book?

Honestly, this book was pretty good. Parts of it were really twisty and kept me interested. However, it had a lot of things that did not feel important to the story. I will still read the series but I will say it's a good thing I'm listening to them as audiobooks because there's no way these could keep my attention otherwise.

This is hard to rate. Parts of the book were incredibly interesting and heart-pounding. But it fell flat at the end. I'm not really sure what I was expecting but it seemed like this book couldn't decide if it wanted to be fantasy or some kind of dark academia.

This was pretty incredible. It just sort of dragged on for a very long time and then all of a sudden it was chaotic and somehow I was devastated at the end. Such a good book!

I LOVED this. It felt really fresh and fun. The second chance romance trope isn't usually a favorite but this one definitely did it justice.

I really enjoyed this novella. I loved the mmc and couldn't help but melt.

This one was my favorite and the only one in the collection that actually felt complete.

This one might be my least favorite so far. I just didn't really see anything that made it special or memorable.

I love Tessa Bailey but this was not for me.

Novellas are always hard for me because I always feel like something is missing. But it definitely made me feel a little more in the holiday spirit.
