American version of war and peace….?

Possibly my first “romance/drama” novel and it was solid. The ending is what made the book for me. Would have like more interaction between Scarlett and Rhet, who were great main characters.

The way Mitchell presented the African-American dialogue was annoying and frustrating. It either works or it doesn’t.

Was not interested in the war or the events that led to or were a result of it.

Worthy of being deemed a classic novel.

Such a good concept! Just lacked the story telling to bring it all together. Underwhelming reading experience, but an extremely important moral concept that should be read by all.

This book killed a lot of my interest in the series and I considered giving up a third of the way through. POV’s from any of the female characters are boring and the amount of time spent in Salidar was insufferable. Felt like the book was heading no where for a very long time. The ending was overhyped but kept me interested in starting the next book….

Fun and lighthearted! Grew attached to the characters. The formula got repetitive after a while. Great respect and recognition for the fact it is considered the first modern novel.

Felt like the book dragged on a little. A bit too Aiel heavy and am finding my self getting slightly bored with them.

Was going into this book expecting it to be the greatest book of all time. Having just read crime and punishment prior to this, I was let down. Great themes are explored, the stand out scene was the Grand Inquisitor, which is mind blowing to unpack. Found the book dragged on towards the end and turned into a bit of a slog to finish.

Still an amazing book that has profound depth and deserves its spot as one of the greatest books of all time.

Raskolnikov is an all time iconic character. Loved the dark atmosphere, felt like I was in the side streets of St Petersburg watching Raskolnikov go about his business. Had me hooked from first to last page.

Loved the Tolkein nostalgia! This book rekindled a fire within me to return back to reading after a 10 year break. Loved the sense of adventure and am forever grateful to the client who gave me this book against my wishes.

Rand went missing in this book and I wasn’t a fan of that. He is the most interesting character and I felt robbed.

Perrin shone in this book! Feel like everything peaked together nicely. Didn’t match the sense of adventure I felt during the GOAT the Great Hunt.
