thank you to @netgalley, @ericaridley, & @foreverpublishing for this arc! i haven't read historical romance in a while but i love the setting and fun aspects it brings to a typical romance!
this story also had a heist which is so fun and i loved seeing all the Wynchesters work together, which Marjorie at the forefront.
the main reason this book is at a 3.5 and not quite a 4 is there was a lot of filler conversations that sometimes seemed very similar to previous ones. this is not to say that Marjorie and Adrian didn't have fantastic banter & chemistry (because they did!), I just wished that some conversations were cut down a bit sometimes.
overall, if you want a fun, historical romance complete with a heist, fun family, and witty banter, you should give my rogue to ruin a read when it comes out september 12, 2023 (tomorrow!!)
this book was a second-chance romance with such a fun setting! if you love the bachelor or any similar reality tv shows then this is the book for you.
i had so much fun reading this and loved all the characters. the chemistry between emily & jake is apparent and the tension was high throughout the book! watching them work through all that had happened between them while in a situation where they have to pretend to be strangers is so interesting.
sometimes when it would switch to past-tense in the middle of a chapter i would get a little confused and have to reread to reorient myself. i did love the dual pov and getting to see each mc's perspective of everything that happened and is going on now.
if you want a fun second-chance romance that will make you swoon, the love rematch comes out october 16, 2023!!

i absolutely fell in love with this story and this world. the magic system was simple & easy to understand for those new to fantasy but still intriguing. the world building was great & i thought the way that politics were intertwined throughout the story was executed so well!
the regency era setting is perfect for fans of bridgerton & pride and prejudice! it fits the story so well and i loved the way it was tied into everything.
now let's talk about the romance of it all! niamh & kit had electric chemistry and i loved the progression of their romance. their banter and interactions were so entertaining!
the side characters were also so fun & made the story feel so much more well rounded & complete. the romance combined with the political unrest throughout the novel kept me on the edge of my seat.
this book didn't quite have the 5 star feel for me, but i still loved, which is why it is just shy of a 5. i highly recommend giving it a read owhen it comes out january 30, 2024!
