See allSurviving Transphobia is a book about how different people have experienced their gender identity journeys, and consists of short essays from lots of different kinds of trans people, all about how they figured out they were trans, what it means for them, and how others around them accepted or rejected them for it. This is a topic close to my heart, and I felt that it was approached very carefully, and the various inputs allowed for the book to feel like a discussion on what it means to be trans. I think this book is a very important one, and I would definitely recommend this to trans people and allies, or anyone looking to learn more about being transgender.
I didn't expect to adore this quite as much as I did! I knew it was going to be a treat going in, but I just fell in love with all the characters.
The book has its own illustrations by the author, who also acts as the main character in the story, encountering some beautiful and unusual birds with fantastically unique stories.
We meet Vernon, Quentin, Madge and Connie, and as they sit for portraits, we hear all about love stories and romantic interests, with the turkey sisters at the centre of attention!
I'm really excited to get started on book two, and I just know it's going to have the same fun and whimsical feel to it. An excellent read for any age.
This was a really sweet love story! I loved the idea of a teacher falling in love with the dad of one of his students, and the two were really perfect together. I did often get frustrated when the two wouldn't communicate properly but this was more to do with their personalities and it all worked out in the end. I love this author's style and definitely want to read more!
This was amazing!!! I loved the way supernatural beings were living alongside humans, and the issues both might face along the way were explored.
Charlie and Lorenzo were incredible, even at the start when they very much didn't like each other! (Or rather, Lorenzo hated Charlie) I loved their chemistry throughout, and Charlie's advice column was really fun to read.
Of course it wouldn't be a romance without issues near the end, but I found that it was resolved wonderfully and I was really happy with how it ended.
I loved all the characters, and Lorenzo's roommates were awesome too. I'd love to read more with these characters in!
