White Nights has ignited a strong desire to learn Russian, if only to experience the story in its raw, unfiltered beauty. The translation is surprisingly modern, which only deepens my yearning to understand the language. The book brims with lines worth quoting, though they don't haunt you. It's more about the way they strike in the moment. The existential crisis vibe is so palpable, it made me pause and reflect on life more than I'd care to admit. The tone also feels reminiscent of J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye , except the characters here are more critical thinkers than Holden and take life more seriously.
Now now, the protagonist? Total delulu. Honestly, I felt kinda bad for him. Like, I had to cover my mouth because his pain was just... embarrassingly intense. He got friend-zoned hard, it was almost painful to read. Yet, despite that, his thoughts were profoundly introspective, like a seasoned loner lost in a cycle of overanalyzing. It made me feel bad about rejecting that one guy who was all in for me. Kinda put things in perspective.
Now, her.
Girl cries a lot. It's practically on every other page. And she blushes, oh she blushes rose, crimson, pink, red, just as he describes; which honestly, I can't judge, because I turn into a “tomato” myself. She's delusional as well (her words, not mine), but I refuse to believe she's 17. If she's this lonely, then what does that make me? lol
To sum her up in Taylor Swift terms: “It's like I'm 17 and nobody understands.” And him? “Excellent fun 'til you get to know her.” That pretty much sums them up. I don't totally relate, but I do a little, especially with my fictional crushes, those hard-to-choose situations.
And to wrap it up:
Dostoevsky, who hurt you bro?
4.5⭐
My faith in rom-com has been restored. All thanks to Emily Henry. Finally, the search for a good romance novel with clear-headed characters has ended!
The FMC is not QuIrKy and Cringe???? I'm sold. Had Libby been less annoying, I'd have given it 5 fucking stars. It's was a great read! I love Charlie and Nora.
My favourite paragraph from the whole book-
“I look away from his face, which really just means my eyes skate down his golden throat and over his pristine white T-shirt to his arms. They're good arms. Not in a ripped way, just an attractively lean way.
Okay, they're just arms. Chill, Nora. Straight men have it too easy. A heterosexual woman can see a very normal-looking, nonsexual appendage, and biology's like, Step aside, last four thousand years of evolution, it's time to contribute to the continuation of the human race.”
Had me rolling hahaha.
Such a wonderful way to end the year with a nice book.
THIS book HAD to be named nothing like the movies. I don't see how it is better than the movie. Nope.
Went from a solid 5 to an absolute 0 for me. Liz's behavior is downright unbearable. She can't seem to get anything right. I genuinely feel bad for every single character in this book except Liz. Who is going to tell her that not everything has to be about her- oh! Joyce might, but liz will dump her again. I understand what the author was trying to convey, but it fell completely flat because Liz. Is. The. Worst. Period.
I have never despised a female main character in a rom-com this much. The constant pop culture references? Overwhelming and exhausting. No one enjoys stopping to Google every other line just to make sense of what's happening. I was literally trudging through the pages just to finally put this disaster to rest and now that I'm FINALLY DONE, I hope you find someone better Wes.
Once every few months, my hopeless teenage spirit compels me to read a cheesy (and sometimes dreadful, with hideous covers) enemies-to-lovers book, just to feed my delusions and laugh about it later. Now, let's see how this book pleases me.
edit: oml. sooo cute. I finished this in one day. deff my fav from this genre till date. tho Olive seems way too much QuIrKy and her bf was being a jerk sometimes, but it wasn't that bad. 3.5 rounded up 4 cause I'M YET TO FEEL THE SATISFACTION OF HAVING READ A REALLY GOOD GOOD ENEMIES TO LOVERS BOOK WHICH ISN'T FANTASY ROMANCE.
I was contemplating reading this but Goodreads decided to bash it on my face everytime I opened the app so I decided to give it a go. Absolutely terrible. I stand correct. This is indeed a slow read. Verryyy slow read. Couldn't finish it and after reading other reviews, , I'm relieved I didn't squander any more of my precious time.
Poor Gregor Samsa, all that suffering just cause you had 6 legs. Kafka really bugged me with this one, transforming what could have been a quirky tale into a Kafkaesque nightmare. If his aim was to turn my understanding of self and suffering inside out, then he succeeded beyond measure.
Orginal review ( I was NOT PREPARED
bruh this book is sooo fucked up and unhinged. by the time I reach the end, I was completely lost. it was too much to take in. also, it's pretty slow in the beginning. nevertheless, Gillian Fylnn left me annoyed(?), shocked, pretty much every adjective you could use to describe a murder mystery with a fucked up plot.
It took me almost 3 damn weeks to complete 45% of it
, oh but the later part. *Chefs kiss. The twist just kept on coming!! I fking loved it sooo muchhh! Not to mention that plot was something very different than classic murder mysteries. No offence I originally hated it cause it was sooo slow but God, wow.
Now, the ending. What tf was that- I did not expected the ending at all. My all female intuitions went broke with it
' Death is hilarious, and it comes in spectrum ‘
There are many ways this book could be described, but I found this the best.I mean, it's not every day you find yourself laughing with Death, right? But hey, in this book, Death's got jokes and it's on a whole spectrum of emotions. I kid you not, I was bawling my eyes out at 3 am, no other book has made me cry this much except from my Physics book. I cried an ocean.
This is the most beautifully written book I've ever read till now. Very engaging and page turning. The characters are l̶i̶k̶e̶a̶b̶l̶e̶ lovable! And the narrator? Unexpectedly great! Who though death had sense of humour? Anddd, it comes in colours. The skies. Everytime the colour of sky was mentioned in the book,a soul was lifted by death and even death had to call God in the time of despair .The theme however revolved around very little life,a small HEAVEN albeit the conditions of Nazi-Germany war. It was comforting to read,to see how even death was reluctant to meet her eyes, to see the how the world slowly grew and fell in front of Liesel.
Speaking of Liesel meminger, she's the heart of “The Book Thief,” you know? Like, she's not just a character; she's your friend, your sister, someone you root for every step of the way. Her journey from a scared little girl to a wise and brave young woman, it's just so real, you feel like you're right there with her. And her love for words? Man, that's something special. It's like watching her discover a superpower she never knew she had. Plus, her relationships with Hans, Rudy, Max—each one adds another layer to her story, making you laugh, cry, and cheer along with her. So yeah, Liesel Meminger, she's the girl who stole not just books, but hearts too.
Hans hubberman, my fav, the legend ,he deserves the world!!from trading cigs for his daughter's book and comforting her at night to taking whips for a jew. This man embodies the very essence of human compassion with each sacrificial act.
I feel in love with almost every character in this book, with every
“I felt very still and empty, the way the eye of a tornado must feel, moving dully along in the middle of the surrounding hullabaloo.”
This is how I felt after finishing the book.
“The Bell Jar” is one of my favorite reads. I adore Sylvia Plath's writing, her thought process, and perspective. I don't think anyone can tackle sensitive topics like she does with such clarity and skill. “The Bell Jar” oozes raw emotions and metaphors. I love how she portrays the world from her unique viewpoint. This book is unbelievably relevant even today, despite being written many years ago. I read few reviews where people told how this book made them depressed, thought I can't say the same for me ( maybe cause I'm depressed already?
5 stars cause of the movie, originally 3.5
Okay, breathes in
“Dead Poets Society” isn't just a book; it's an emotional rollercoaster that tugs at your heartstrings. From Neil's journey of self-discovery to Mr. Keating's inspiring mentorship, every page is filled with moments that'll make you laugh, CRY, and reflect on life's deepest questions( I thought of changing my stream to literature for a moment
WHY didn't the cat die? And the mouse doesn't deserve a life, please.

STOP ROMANTICIZING ASSUALT.
Stop painting roses on a thornbush; it's time to see things as they really are.Though the author warned how the book would be, I didn't expect it to be THIS BAD
I am gonna say it again, I FUCKING STAN MY FELLOW TALENTED WATTPAD AUTHORS!!

3.5 rounded up to 4. So yeah it's good, but Catalina brings me a lottttt of embarrassment sometimes. Also some parts of the book are cringe and when I got to know that the author considered aron as Clark Kent. God. I died. Tf!!! I'd rather not imagine him at all than imagine him as Kent( Kent just seems to old for Catalina as for the way she's described). Also them calling each other ‘baby'! Ohmg, I'd to help myself recover after reading it everytime. Basically, their convos as they got together started to get cliche. Over all It was an okayish good read. Edit: oct 12, am giving it solid 3 star review. Now that I'm back to my senses and the book's air has left my lungs, body, mind whatever, I can think rationally, and there's only one way I can describe it, ‘Cliche'. Yes. The man had tooo much of audacity to ask her everytime and to make that printed piece–the embodiment of embarrassment–believe that she has no other option than taking him as her date. Calm down your nerves man. Let the girl think of an better option firstly, she's already trying soo hard to not to think like an idiot, let her have some more time. Nope. It's a big NOOOOO for me from me. Am not even gonna call this as an guilty pleasure. It's just an guilty ‘ what did I just read ‘ no pleasure.I stan my Wattpad authors
When in doubt, trust Frieda McFadden.
I randomly chose it, and Frieda didn't disappoint me at all. From the characters to the plot, surprises kept coming, and I couldn't put it down until the last page. The plot was unexpectedly brilliant. The FMC was psychotic, naive and a freaking (I'll not spoil it, ya better read it)
Plus, this book unexpectedly taught me more about turtles than I ever imagined
