That was so beautifully and powerfully written.
It was sad at times, but the touch of humanity and sense of unity even amongst those down on their luck gave you hope.
The black humour also stopped it from being a really bleak read.
I like that the book ended with a touch of hope at the end.
Thank you to PH and Ryan for the chance to read this book.
This was an interesting read although I'm not sure I actually enjoyed it.
It was a very disturbing read with some very unlikeable characters.
Inspector Low makes for an interesting character, although not very likeable. I did like Mistry though.
Thank you to PH and Neil for the chance to read this book.
I loved this lighthearted read!
It had a wonderful set of characters and I loved Levi and Jane so I was definitely rooting for them both! I also loved Levi's niece, Peyton. She was quite the character.
The author had me gripped from the start what with the extremely tense and life threatening start to the book (Stuck in a Gondola up in the clouds during a snowstorm anyone?!)!
I thought the book was well written although I'm not sure about including Charlotte's (Jane's friend) and Mateo's (friend of Jane and Levi) love story in the same book. I think it would've been better to have given them their own book.
Still, it doesn't take away from the rating, as I still enjoyed the book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Headline Publishers for an ARC copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a wonderful, wonderful read! I loved every second of it.
It had an absolute amazing cast of characters who I loved and I definitely miss them.
It was sad at times, but the brilliant humour/banter made it more lighthearted.
I love how far Beth had come by the end of the book from where she'd started.
I loved little Ted who was brilliant at providing some light relief and also Albert, the old neighbour, who was a gem!
Thank you to PH and Sarah for the chance to read this book.
This was an enjoyable read.
I especially enjoyed the fact that Bologna made for an interesting setting for the story.
The descriptions of the venues, the heat, etc made for a very atmospheric read.
I loved Daniel Leicester as a character and since I haven't read the previous two books in the series I will definitely go back and read them.
The plot itself was very tense and gripping and as I said, I really enjoyed it!
I definitely recommend it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little Brown Publishers for the chance to read this book.
I really enjoyed this, despite the fact that it took me a while to finish it!
It was well written, with some great twists that I didn't see coming.
I wasn't sure about some of the characters, but they ended up redeeming themselves by the end.
Thank you to NetGalley, Annie and Quercus Publishing for the chance to read this book.
This was a very good read. I really enjoyed it.
I found Emma to be an interesting character, although reading about some of the awful stuff she had to put up with as a politician makes me wonder why on earth anyone would want to be one! I know it's just fiction in this case, but honestly some of the abuse was vile.
It was a very gripping read and I probably would have read it in one go if I'd had a physical copy of the book.
Thank you to PH and Sarah for the chance to read this book.
Despite the troubles/anxieties/heartbreak mentioned in the book, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
I suppose that was partly due to the excellent humour/wittiness that made an appearance every so often throughout the book.
I admire the author for being brave enough to share her experiences with us.
Thank you to PH and Georgia for the chance to read this book.
This was a lovely read.
I loved Sunny as a character, especially since in some ways I could really relate to her.
I really enjoyed following her on her journey as she got to know herself better.
It was both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.
Thank you to PH and Sukh Ojla for the chance to read this book.
This was an excellent read.
It was well written, with so many twists and mind games. At times I really couldn't tell who was telling the truth and who was lying. I kept changing my mind every few pages.
I thought the characters were very well written too.
Thank you to PH and Sarah for the chance to read this book.
I really enjoyed Call Me Mummy, so I was really looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint!
It was tough to read at times and very sad and heartbreaking too.
It was very, very tense at times too because you really couldn't tell what was going to happen from one page to the next.
Once again a very well written book by Tina.
Thank you to PH and Tina for the chance to read this book.
This was another excellent read for me by Neil.
I really enjoyed the first book in the series, so was really looking forward to this one and it didn't disappoint!
I loved being reunited with Max and the team again. There was the addition of a new member to the team, Norma. I liked her and hope she makes an appearance in future books!
Once again the book was full of tension, and there was a clever twist at the end that I didn't see coming!
I would definitely recommend this.
Thank you to PH and Neil for the chance to read this book!
This has been a brilliant read! A combination of terrifying, hopeless, hopeful and funny! I loved how our main character (we never learn her name!) learned and grew as the story went on!
As I mentioned before, I'm not a pet person, but really Lucky was the star of the story. If not for him, our main character would've been dead a long time ago! She had a helping hand from Lucky, but she clearly was strong and brave. I'm not sure how I would've coped in her situation!
It was heartbreaking, sad, terrifying and just plain awful at times! The humour definitely stopped it from being a truly horrifying read, and of course there's also the fact that she managed to make a life for herself.
There were some unanswered questions at the end. There is a sequel, so I'm hoping some of these questions will be answered in that.
Thank you to PH and Bethany for the chance to read this brilliant book.
Phew, what an utterly fantastic read that was! It's been so, so good! Fast paced, with some brilliant action.
There was some beautiful descriptions throughout and I loved the humour, which helped balance the book and stopped it from being totally sad/heartbreaking.
It had a wonderful mix of characters. I loved Jag/Jack/Jacques and am really going to miss him, although with his story not complete, I'm guessing there'll be another book.
Thank you to PH and JC Harvey for the chance to read this excellent book!
Wow, that was such a fascinating read! I've thoroughly enjoyed it, although it took a good deal of concentration to follow what was going on!
I'm really going to miss this book and the characters in it! It was so different to the kind of books I normally read!
Thank you to PH and Natasha for the chance to read this.
That was a thoroughly enjoyable read! I'm actually going to miss it.
It had plenty of twists and turns, which had me gripped throughout. I enjoyed and loved the descriptions of the places, which made it easy to picture as I read the book.
I liked Eira as a character and since this is the start of a series, I'm hoping we'll meet her again in future books.
Thank you to PH and Tove for the chance to read this book.
I'd never read a book by Sophie Hannah before and I can safely say that I won't be in a rush to read another one.
Unfortunately this book was slow and just kept going round and round in circles. The characters were all odd, who behaved rather bizarrely.
Thank you to Pigeonhole and Sophie Hannah for the chance to read this book.
Aw, this has been such an emotional and moving read! So tough to read at times, but it had its lighter moments too.
There was some really beautiful writing. The characters were fantastically well written. I loved them all and am so going to miss them! Martin was my favourite. A truly wonderful friend! Everyone deserves a friend like him.
Thank you to PH and Jo for the chance to read this book.
An excellent read, which I can't recommend highly enough!
This was an interesting read, partly because it was written in a style I'm not used to, which was the transcripts of video files recorded by our main character, Steven.
The other reason was because Steven, despite his troubled past, was a very likeable character.
I thought the story itself was very cleverly written.
Thank you to PH and Janice for the chance to read this book.
This was such a beautiful, yet emotional read. It was both heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time.
The descriptive writing especially when describing Harris was wonderful.
Nell and Dougie were great characters and I enjoyed following the journey that lead them to cross paths!
This was an excellent read and I would definitely recommend it.
Thank you to PH and Freya North for the chance to read this book.
