Why this book?
My all-time #1 fave. No book has come close to immersing me in a world like Follett did with Pillars. The setting, the interweaving storylines, the characters, the scope—this, to me, embodies what a novel is supposed to be.
Why this book?
I read it when I was young, so it may not hold up as a great book—but the plot twist for the main character's fortunes stuck with me in a way that few storylines have over the years.
