This is the best of all the Maze Runner books. It's so infuriating but so good. I cried a bunch of times and I was so mad through all of it. I still can't believe they had to do the purge like, ughhhh. And I didn't think there would be any plot twists cause its a prequel, but the epilogue!?!?!?!? It killed me and now I don't know what to do with my life, everything was a lie.
This world is so interesting to be in, fucked up but the kind of fucked up you can't put down. Though this one is less fucked up than the others. I loved the new characters and I got attached to all of them, even though I knew their fate from the start. Loved Alex, he was my favourite. And the ending (before the epilogue) was the sweetest.
It was a really quick read, which I liked. The first half of the book I was having a little fun but I didn't like most of it. They didn't have chemistry, the sex scenes were non-existent and very awkward, and I don't know, sometimes they were acting like straight men. I was really excited for this book and it really disappointed me. I wanted to annotate it and I gave up on page 2. The writing style was also one of the bigger problems, there was just telling and no showing. In my opinion we wouldn't even need the Celeste chapters.
I am not sure how I feel about it. I love the world, but some of the characters really annoy me. I adore Pila she is my favourite, but Yeeran, Lettle and Furi are toxic. The idea of the world is so interesting and I had fun reading it, but the relationship between Furi and Yeeran left a sour taste in my mouth.
I highly recommend this book. I truly don’t think there is a better book out there for survivors. It guides you through the healing journey one small step at a time. It includes many useful practices that I now use on a daily basis, and everything is explained clearly, allowing you to better understand what’s happening in your body and start to heal properly. It also has a lot of stories from other survivours that are horrible to read, but it makes you feel less alone.
Overall, I can't recommend this book enough. It really helped me so much, but I do recommend doing at least some of the exercises with a therapist cause some of them are really hard. If you need this book, I’m truly sorry for what brought you to it, and I hope it helps you as much as it helped me.
I just figured out this is the last book and the others are prequels and I was NOT ready for that at all. I found this series randomly in the library and did not expect it to become one of the best series I have ever read. It’s true that I liked the last book a little less than the others, but I still gave it 4.5⭐️
Now I genuinely do not know what to do with myself. Please go read this series, you will not regret it.
The story is beautiful, almost as much as its illustrations. I loved how much of it was based on real events, even though it was a magical realism book. The writing style is so touching, and many of the random paragraphs are beautifully written. I loved Rio as a character, he was so sassy, and their relationship was so sweet. It felt a little insta-love, but it was still amazing.
This would have been a 5⭐️ if it wasn't for the third act breakup. I really didn't want to read anymore after that I think Stevie deserved better and Iris needs some therapy. She acted really shitty and after that i didn't root for them anymore. Stevie is so sweet she really deserved better someone that actually wants to be in a relationship with her.
Before thw breakup they were so sweet and so funny i have so much good things highlighted in this book and I am so dissapointed by the breakup.
