I didn't realize I didn't write a review yet... Let's see what I remember.
I loved how this took a character who was absolutely abhorrent in the beginning and made me weep at the end for him. Wallace's journey was so well done and a delight to read! I love how patient Hugo is and how he is so kind to EVERYONE who comes through his doors, dead or alive. I loved Mei as his snarky sidekick and I loved Nelson for also being a general (yet loveable) pain in the ass.
Besides the cast being an absolute delight, the plot was pretty interesting. I found all these philosophical questions interesting to mull over and I was pleased with the way the heavy topics were handled.
I did think that ‘the Manager' was kinda weird and rushed in a way but it gave a plot to the story and so I wasn't mad by it. I wish there were more books of their adventures after the end!! I want to know what happens to Hugo and Wallace at the very end (aka, does Wallace stick around until Hugo dies then they both go through the door or does Wallace have to stay forever?).
Overall, a sappy, cute gay supernatural fantasy that will warm you through (be sure to read with tea!).
I need book 2 like NOW please.
I've been following Sophia for a while and I have been eagerly anticipating this book for a long time. And it did NOT disappoint. In fact, it was even BETTER than I expected! Sophia has a way with words that's entirely absorbing and atmospheric.
Nightstrider follows four main characters; Wren, Alaric, Caine, and Ila. Each are beautifully complicated and flawed and well rounded. They live in the Reverie or the Wake, a dream world and real world respectively, and the fate of these worlds hinge on them stopping the nightmarishly powerful Para Warwick from getting his hands on a power that could unmake the Boundary between the worlds.
I love, love, loved it. The world building is astounding! It was a little confusing in the beginning (along with following 4 characters you don't know yet), but once you hit a stride, the book hooks into you and won't let you go even after you finish the last page. I am so excited to get my hands on book two in spring of 2023! The ending is well done and sets up book two perfectly!
Overall, a fantastic dark fantasy with unforgettable characters and action!
If I wasn't at work, I know I'd be crying.
Misrule picks up roughly 100 years after the end of Malice. Alyce is the Mistress of the Dark Court and she's been liberating the abused, broken, and neglected. The Imps, Demons, Goblins, Vila, and Shifters. And trying to break the curse on Aurora.
I absolutely love the plotting and writing of this duology. I love that little details mentioned in passing end up being a major plot point in the future, I love this absolutely enduring and unbreakable love that Aurora and Alyce share, I love that Spoilerthey END the deep set blood feud. I could read this again immediately and find new clues and new things to LOVE about it.
I loved the ending. Even though I desperately wanted Aurora and Alyce to be together forever, the ending is just so fitting and what I wouldn't give to see them meeting after yet another hundred years.....
Stunning fantasy duology about being yourself despite all odds and a love that transcends curses.
Ahh that was adorable. I love the art so much. The story was somewhat rushed but there's only so many pages to convey a lot of complicated emotions. I liked the story a lot, I think Morgan had a lot going on and holding onto her “plan” was how she coped. When things went wrong, she learned to adapt and I'm proud of her growth!
Worthwhile LGBTQ+ read!

This is the cutest manga I've read in a while. We follow Tomoko as she observes her eldest son whom is gay as he navigates this world. He's not ready to come out and with his father making homophobic comments, I don't blame him. Tomoko and the younger son both show their support in small ways and it made me so happy for him. I'm looking forward to reading more and hopefully Dad will realize he's a dick and comes around.
Holy crap the last like 100-50 pages is INSANE. This was SO GOOD!
I love retellings. I love stories about the villain. And I love when the main character is morally gray and delves into that dark side. So this was EXACTLY what I wanted!
I love Alyce and her problems. I think she handled them as best she could and made hella mistakes but how could she have known better. I hated seeing her manipulated and lied to and cheated but it added to all the reasons for why she breaks in the end. I loved that I feel like she's justified; I think that means the author did a good job at writing her. I loved the writing and how absolutely GRAY everything is. There is no right answer, there are only the lessors of the evils. And those evils are pretty bad.
I loved Aurora too. I liked her spunk even though she was incredibly naïve. I genuinely hope for a happy ending at the end of book 2, but I'm not exactly expecting it.

A friend and my partner both enjoy this series, so I had to give it a try and I really liked it!! I'm super interested in seeing where this goes!
I sped through volume 2 & 3 and I'm completely addicted!! The story is interesting and mysterious; the action well illustrated; and Jinwoo seems like a good guy (kinda). I'm excited for more!
VOLUME 4 WAS CRAZY! His dad?!?? I'm so excited for volume 5!
This is an excellent resource to get you thinking about ways to make your library more inclusive and available for tweens and teens. That said, there's not many program ideas. But it's more of a building block to make you push the boundaries of your library and challenge you to think of ways to be inclusive year round rather than simply celebrating monthly (ie: Indigenous History Month, Black History Month, AAPI Month).
A resource for school librarians primarily, but also helpful for public librarians and first-year librarians.
This was better than I expected. Not because the trashy fanboys rating bombed it, but because Teen Titans are like the only superheroes I fiercely love. I wasn't expecting to fall back in love with them and their world.
I really liked Mandy and her journey. I liked seeing her as a well rounded character and her being plus size was awesome! I really identified with her. I loved seeing so much Starfire because she's always been my favorite. I really loved the ending and the romance too! I like that the romance didn't overwhelm the plot and it felt natural if not a little rushed.
Solid pick for casual fans who might be questioning their own identity!
I was drawn to the bright and colorful art and cute style, but that's about all I enjoyed. The story was a little hard to follow as things aren't well explained until towards the end. I didn't know who any of the other monsters were and because they immediately left, I wasn't sure why we were introduced to them at all. The lesson or moral of the story was pretty simplistic but will go well with kids.
Overall, a good graphic for shyer, younger kids.
What a fantastic follow up to [b:Pride and Premeditation 53914898 Pride and Premeditation (Jane Austen Murder Mystery, #1) Tirzah Price https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1604946060l/53914898.SY75.jpg 76322179]! I haven't actually read or seen any adaptations of ‘Sense and Sensibility' so I truly went into this blind. But I had a great time and now I want to see the original! I loved all three of the girls and the only thing I didn't like was that this was 3rd person and seemed to hop from sister to sister to the point where I was getting quite confused. But I loved all the mystery elements and how it all came together at the end. I loved the small nods to Lizzie and the first book! Just like the first, I wanted more of an epilogue or a sequel! I want to follow all of these reimagined characters through all kinds of adventures!!Very much looking forward to the third book and hopefully there will be more!!
Great story about coping with OCD, normalizing LGBTQIA+ relationships, and showing a fantastic diversity in characters.
Loved the art and the storyline and how Maggie learned about herself and came to terms with her OCD. I was so proud of her for getting the help she needed! Great graphic for D&D fans too!
A complicated graphic novel about a diverse group of girls making their way in their freshman year of high school. They're somewhat coerced into joining the basketball team and learn how to lean on one another.
I thought the color pallet while super cool was distracting. The plot isn't super linear so it jumps all over the place. And the challenges these girls faced were monumental. But they stuck through and I did like the character growth.
A middle grade graphic about a boy who finds a tin man in the junkyard. The tin man helps bridge the distance between the boy and his older sister who is going through a hard time after their grandmother died. It was okay. The bully was really nasty and I didn't care for the art style but the story is solid.

This series is speaking straight to my book loving soul! I'm so excited to see where Theo goes! But the librarians are so badass and I love it so far! The art is also stunning!
Come on Theo you can do it! I love his new friends and I can't wait to see what happens!
