My favorite book of all time, and I do not say that lightly. Maia is the fourth, forgotten son of the emperor and never expects to be on the throne. A tragedy changes that and throws Maia headfirst into a world of Court. My favorite aspect of this book is the kindness that Maia clings to despite the difficulty of his circumstances.

Also, yes, there are way too many names and they all look the same but there is a very thorough list of persons in the beginning and the rest of the book more than makes up for it.

Rath and Tress are probably the sweetest , cutest couple ever written. I would have liked a little more book as it was <200 pages but only because it was so wonderful that I never wanted it to end, not because it was lacking anything. 

Pretty strange, indeed. But also so hecking sweet. If your are worried about Snap from the CW: it's not about him. He is completely fine the whole time

It was so funny!! I laughed out loud so many times! The romance was sweet if a little bit frustrating in the middle. 

It was very cute. I thought the romance was sweet if a bit lacking. Jasen was an absolute joy of a MC tho so it was worth it. Even though this is the expanded version there were a few things that were mentioned, like the one time the dragon spoke words in Jasen's mind even though that was supposed to be impossible, that were not explored/explained even though they felt important. 

This was one of the cutest things I've ever read!!

So first off, this book was really just part 1 of a single story. It ended so abruptly that I can only assume it is in 3 separate parts for publishing reasons. I did find the formatting sort of annoying since there was 1 sentence per paragraph in most cases which made flow feel very jerky. I did really like Novikke and Aruna's complex relationship. 

I really liked this book because every time something seemed to be going wrong it would turn out to be part of Darrow's plan all along. 

I just didn't really care about the characters 

Honestly, because it sucked. First, I'd like to say that I love the idea of this book. Women going to a secret apothecary in the 1700's to kill their abusers, love it. I also loved the character Nella, the woman who ran the apothecary. Beyond that, not much was good. All of the problems were caused by miscommunication. Eliza using the labeled bottle... smh. There was so much set up of her being a clever young girl and this mistake felt like her going out of her way to create issues. And I was frustrated beyond belief that no one would simply state that what she was experiencing was the menstrual cycle. I get that it was the 1700's and people didn't talk about these things, but still. And almost every single character was OBSESSED with the idea of being a mother. It was their main personality trait. Lastly, Caroline's abysmal technology use. “I opened my Internet app”... no. Also her flashlight died WAY TOO FAST. I'd guess she was in that room for no more than 15 min by how upset she was at the speed her phone died. If having your flashlight on for 15 min drains your battery from 100 to 0, you either have an IPhone3 or the worst up to date modern smart phone I've ever heard of.

I obviously do not know if things get better in the last 100 pages, and if they do I'm sorry, book, for being rude. 

Holy hell is this book boring. I know it was written in the 1800's so it's going to be slow but literally nothing happened.
