Just couldn't get into it, I don't get it and already lost interest, might do some research and come back to it later
I read the Chinese paperback edition of the novel, and it has been heavily censored on the gay relationship and cursing aspects. The relationship between Ting Shuang and Bai Changyi falls flat in this version. The stakes are so low. I didn't feel very involved in teh story, apart for some very specific moments where the two were particularly flirty. DNF at 188 pages out of 292 (not counting the extras), because reading this story became more of a chore than an enjoyment.
I found the main character, Lucy, very unlinkeable and childlish. That's my main takeaway from this book. It is offensive in many places, mainly about how Josh is SO MUCH BETTER because he is TALL and MUSCULAR, not like the guys Lucy dated before, who were shorter and thinner. Her hatred on tall blondes is also annoying (and I am a short brunette like her lol). She despises anyone who is not him or her.
The story was OK, a bit long at times (the endless descriptions of how Joshua is SO HANDSOME). It was obvious from the beginning that she was making up stories of hating him in her head. I read it in two days because I'm sick and have to rest. It was a simple and “cute” story at times. I think I wouldn't have finished it if I had other things to do.
