Fabulous book. I enjoyed this one, although I hate to see Alex's deterioration, as I really liked him in the Haunted Village series.
Alex has continued to deteriorate, and his behavior is even causing one of his closest ghost friends, Timmy, to question him. Shane is still determined to find and stop Alex, but the decision is one that is tough for him. Knowing that Alex is still a young adult, Shane grapples with the knowledge that he has to end the tyrant.
Oh my goodness, this book! I was not ready for it to end! This was an amazing series, and I look forward to seeing more from this author!
Riveting and exciting!
The crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer shocked an entire nation. What started as a simple investigation into a head in a refrigerator, morphed into one of the worst serial killers the United States had seen at that time.
Patrick Kennedy, the detective assigned the case, did more to get Dahmer to cooperate than most. He sat down and treated him as a human being, not just a suspect in an investigation. While he never forgot that Dahmer had more information to offer, he did his best to put the young man at ease, earning his trust, and getting the murderer to open up to him about the many crimes that he had committed.
In “Grilling Dahmer” the many interrogations and thoughts of the detective are laid out. Additionally, you are going to get some of the comments from Dahmer himself, and the eventual circus that would become the court case.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting to get the impressions of the detective, as well as the many different areas of the crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer. I have long been familiar with Dahmer, but the inner tickings of what made him go off was something that I didn't know. While reading through this book, there were several times I had to stop and go “OH! That makes sense now!”
If you love true crime, you are going to LOVE this book!
This short story follows Polly as she is recuperating from a mental breakdown. After being sent home from work, unable to return until she goes through therapy, she begins to have more breakdowns in the doctors office.
Interesting short horror - although it wasn't as spooky as I was expecting, it still gave you a few jumps.
Oh good gracious! I absolutely love how many of these stories build on each other. They are the perfect way to end a night, and spend a few hours in spine-tingling horrorville.
Get ready for stories that will leave you breathless!! The Scare Street Crew never disappoints, and I look forward to seeing what they having coming next!

This was an interesting read, and the ending took me by surprise (and no, I am not going to share that with you - you have to find it out on your own). Suffice to say, it gave me a few goosebumps on my arms!

‘Til Death Do Us will captivate you from page one, almost as easily as Gladys captivated each of her husbands!
From all accounts, Gladys was a young woman with a big future. As a young girl, she was doted on by her family. As an adult, she was a serial bride - continually marrying and divorcing husbands, many in quick succession.
While reading through ‘Til Death Do Us I was shocked with the amount of husbands that Gladys had gone through, but also of the very nefarious means that she used to capture a new husband. She was cunning, deceitful, and a master manipulator.
Throughout the book, we get an insight into what made Gladys tick - money. She wanted money, a lot of it, and she would use any means that she could to get a hold of the money that she longed for. But it goes deeper than that. Gladys liked the chase, getting men to do what she wanted, but the end result, marriage, was not something that she particularly enjoyed. She did enjoy some of the benefits of marriage, but it was difficult for her to remain engaged and attentive to the relationship once they crossed the threshold.
Overall, I did enjoy this read. Patrick Gallagher does a great job in breaking down the relationship between Gladys and her three husbands. While she married once more after prison, it is the first marriages we want to look at. Bigamy charges, and the subsequent murder trial that she would go through with her newest husband - another bigamous marriage, will blow your mind. The amount of evidence is mind blowing. After just nine years of a life sentence, she was able to walk free on parole.

There are many things that one imagines when they think about Brooklyn, but criminals may not top that list. Craig McGuire walks us through the many different criminals that have called Brooklyn home, or have passed through the city on one pretense or another.
I enjoyed this book immensely. There was so much information presented that I feel that I am going to have to break this book down again, and read through it - marking different crimes and seeing where they might connect elsewhere.
Perfect for those who love true crime - this is one book you are NOT going to want to miss!!
Fun, engaging, and easy to understand!
Often times, history is deemed boring. Much of the time, this comes from how it is presented - and this book does a fabulous job of bringing the history in a fun - non-dry way!
The Aztecs thrived, built, and grew their empire - through warfare and expansion. Their religious practices have raised questions, turned stomachs, and enthralled historians for years.
Through the reading of this book, I found great history, enough so that my kids enjoyed it as well.
Well done, and fabulously crafted - this history of the Aztecs is perfect for youth to adult readers who want to learn more about the Aztec Civilization.
In the World of Coral Reefs, you can get an up close and personal look at the different marine life and items that can make up a coral reef. Additionally, you can learn what damages a reef, and what you can do to help maintain and promote better growth of the coral reefs.
I enjoyed reading through this book. The images were stunning, and the information provided was not hard to understand, giving kids a better idea of what can help or hurt a coral reef.

This cute little story was a great read!
Rose longs to have fun, but her parents are poor and they must all work hard to ensure that they have enough to eat. As she walks home one day, she hears a song, and follows it to find that it is coming from fairies! She dances and sings with them, before heading home. She promises to plant some roses for them as well.
When she returns home, she finds that she has been away a very long time, even though for her it was just a short afternoon. She plants the flowers, listening for the song of the fairies in her flowers.
Adorable read!
When the ducklings hatch, one is different than the others. For a while, her mother sticks up for her, but eventually she gets tired of it, and smacks the young duckling.
Feeling alone, the young duckling takes off, looking for who she really is and where she fits in.
This adventure was a great read, and I enjoyed the story! I look forward to sharing this book with students in the future!
Peyton Place took the world by storm. It was a movie and a television show - but first, it was a book. Renee Mallet takes us back to the original book, the story that started it all. When we talk about juicy stories, this one has all the makings of a crime that makes your skin crawl, and actually root for the person who committed the murder! Shocking I know, but its the truth.
Background on the Peyton Place Murder:
Grace Metalious was no ordinary housewife. She was a terrible housekeeper, and often lost track of her children, as she was buried in writing, and cheated on her husband more than once. Her mother raised her to expect better than the station she was born into, and so many things were “above her,” so to speak. She loved to write, but would come under fire for her “Peyton Place” book due to the names of some people that she knew in real life making an appearance, even though she insisted that all of the characters were made up.
Through the friendship with a journalist, Grace became familiar with the murder that would spark the book that made her famous, but it also made her an outcast in her community. It was one of those taboo subjects that people were happier to let lie, and not bring up. It was not conversation for polite company. Grace never cared what anyone thought, and plowed ahead.
Review of The Peyton Place Murder:
I knew that the Peyton Place book was based on a true story. However, I could never have guessed at just how incredible the story of the murder of Sylvester Roberts would be. His daughter eventually confessed to the crime. She was sentenced to a prison term, although after a length of time, she changed her plea from Not Guilty to Guilty. This plea was changed to protect her younger brother. Many felt that her brother had a hand in the murder, but from reading through the story, and drawing some conclusions on Barbara herself, I have no doubt that she was capable of the killing, and of course, of moving and hiding the body, without the aid of her brother. They lived on a farm, and from a young age, she was used to the hard manual labor. Her father and older brothers were often away from home as they were Merchant Marines.
In the Peyton Place Murders, we not only get a glimpse of Grace herself. I will candidly admit to not caring for her in the slightest, but the people and the crime that she based her best selling novel off of. As I stated above, you will empathize with this killer, after learning the horrid secrets that she had been keeping, not telling anyone of the horrific abuses of her father. It was a time when these things were not discussed, and any hint of scandal was quickly and quietly done away with.
I really did enjoy this book, and it was one of those that sucks you in. The story of Barbara and the events that led to the death and cover up of her father was interesting, and you find yourself really hoping that she will get off the murder charge.
This book is perfect for a summer afternoon on the couch, or taking to the beach for a good read! For true crime lovers, this is one story that you are not going to want to miss - even if you discover that you can't stand Grace Metalious, you will be drawn into the story of a young girl who would do anything to protect herself and her younger brother at any cost.

Thomas likes to tell stories, a lot of them. As he is finally called out, he must make good on his boasts. As he moves into the forest to spend a night alone, he does not think about anything but himself. He is selfish.
As he sleeps, the trees move, obscuring his way home, leaving him lost.
We loved the story of Thomas, and the eventual realization that he had been disrespectful to the forest by not cleaning up after himself. Perfect story for kids!
Dilly is a happy little penguin, but she has one abnormality - she is not like the other penguins. She only has one foot! This doesn't stop Dilly from participating, and she learns to get along, but some of the other parents don't think she should be around their children. When disaster happens, can Dilly save the other penguin?
Cute story, and this different-abled penguin did not allow her disability to slow her down! I read this to my kids, and we loved it!
