The case of Precious Doe enthralled Kansas City for a very long time. The little girl who was discarded as nothing more than garbage had no name, no family looking for her, and an entire city who wanted to know what happened to her.
The police worked leads, trying to solve the case. It would take a very long time to come to a conclusion, and the ending would be as heartbreaking as the case itself.
A good read, but hard in many places. For parents, this will be a harder read, as we think about our own children. If you are not angry at the mother of this young girl as the story unfolds, you will be as it continues.
Little Hedgehog is dismayed to see the heavy amount of snow that is falling. He is wanting to get together with his friends for Christmas. As they start to gather, they discover that some of their friends are stuck, and can't get out. Working as a team, Little Hedgehog and the others get them out.
Super cute story about friendship and teamwork. Enjoyed this one immensely.
This was a really interesting read, although there were a few places where my stomach rather turned.
Alan Carter has returned to his hometown, determined to figure out what happened to his sister. He knows what he saw, but no one believed him, minus one person, his best friend.
Now, he is determined to break the curse that hangs over the town once and for all.
When Sam gets a new little sister, he goes from being the center of attention to feeling like he is forgotten. As he contemplates running away, his new little sister follows him, and is put into a dangerous situation that he rescues her from. He then learns there is more to being a big brother than he thought!
What a cute read! I enjoyed this book! There are always great little morals through these, and they are fabulous for younger readers!
Kyle just wants to blend in, and forget the tragedies of his past. However, they come to visit him each and every night - and there is nothing that he can do to escape them.
But events are about to take a turn, and Kyle is going to learn that the Witching Hour does not happen once a night - but once a century, and its far worse than anyone could imagine.
Good read! Enjoyed it!
This was a great read! There is a lot of other world-building, outside the normal world in which Grey and his twin brother live. Their father is a candlemaker, and Grey is determined that he is not going to become one, he wants something more than the small island life. Being tormented in his dreams by demons, his parents don't believe him. They think that he is just having nightmares.
I really enjoyed this book and the different nuances that were involved. For younger readers, this book is full of action, magic, and more.
Inheriting a large home, and some strange requests from her uncle, Fiona is not sure what to think. She doesn't want the money, she just wants to be comfortable and not have to struggle as she has in years past. Now, she has millions, and a large mansion to live in. But there is a catch - a strange collection of dolls that are kept in a vault, that her uncle has requested not be moved.
When one of the dolls gets out, and starts killing, Fiona knows she has to stop it, but she is not sure how.
FABULOUS! I am not a fan of clowns at all, but this was a great read! Highly enjoyed it! Looking forward to the next book!
His home holds secrets, and his grandmother seems to be holding even more. As Mihail learns more about the secrets in the castle, he begins to suspect what his grandmother is holding back - and his friend Abe is sure that she is nothing good.
This was a good read, and I am ready to see where the third installment takes this series.
The secrets in the house might kill Mihail before he has a chance to figure them all out. He is also coming to terms with the fact that his grandmother is not the woman he thought she was. Without his friend Abe, Mihail would have been killed long before, but now, he has a chance to survive the secrets that are threatening his entire home, and his life.
Great read! I enjoyed this one!
Soul Destroyer: Supernatural Horror with Scary Ghosts & Haunted Houses
This second installment of the Soul Collector series is amazing. Shane Ryan is continuing his fight against the Blood and Silver gang, and trying to rescue as many of the girls they are trafficking as he can.
He is still haunted by memories of the past, and while he continues his hunt, he is going to find this one is going to push him to the edge - and maybe over it.
Absolutely LOVED this read. I am never disappointed with selections from Scare Street.
This book was absolutely fascinating. I was able to learn so much!
Gregory Skomal takes us through the journey of his life, his education, and what drew him to sharks. While it was a bit of a challenge in the beginning, he kept pushing, finding what he wanted to do, and working in a field that holds challenges of its own.
Absolutely mesmerizing. This book will draw you in and teach you quite a bit about sharks, the people behind the research, and some of the amazing advances that have some along in the past several decades.
Death can start a ripple that affects many people, and this case is no different. The murder of a police officer is discussed in depth and the many people that were involved - either directly or indirectly. The families of the man who pulled the trigger, their backgrounds, prison records, medical experiments, and so much more.
I really enjoyed this book, it was an interesting look into the dichotomy of not only murder, but family and backgrounds.
The author does a great job of pulling together all the information, and laying it out in a way that was easy to understand, and yet kept you engaged throughout the entire book. I enjoyed it, and the many different people that were discussed.
Thuqi' is lost and searching for her family. As she works on finding her way, there are some scary places that she has to go through, but her determination pushes her forward. Running into someone else, they demand help from her, and though they were rude to her before, she determines to help them the best that she can.
Cute story, and one that I really enjoyed! The illustrations are on point, and I loved the native vibe that ran throughout the entire book. Great way to learn about a different culture, and gain some appreciation for friendship and kindness along the way.
Thank you to the publisher, Orca Book Publishers, and Edelweiss for an advanced copy for an unbiased review. All thoughts are my own.
Oh my goodness, get ready for a killer vacation - literally!
When Christa is asked by her boyfriend to join him on a fun vacation, she doesn't even blink. She is excited for the time that they are going to spend together, and looks forward to possibly take the next steps in their relationship.
But an accident on the road leaves them stranded in the dead of winter, far from civilization, and the snow is falling. Soon, people start turning up dead. No one can figure out who the killer is, and one by one, they start to dwindle - their numbers becoming fewer each day.
Oh my, this was such a great book! I could NOT put it down! I was hooked from the first page. This is one that will leave you guessing as to who the killer might be until the very end.
Set during world war II, this is a moving and disturbing piece. Trying to solve a murder, the two main characters are brought together - but they are vastly different from each other.
You will want some kleenex, as there are places in this book that will completely tear you apart!
Well written, and will keep you wanting to read more!
There is a lot of information to unpack here - and several kingdoms to traipse through - however, the author does a fantastic job of breaking it all down.
From the beginning, diving through many of the different ups and downs, there is something for everyone in this book. Get to know some of the major players within the European kingdoms, and their different issues as they try to navigate the political landscapes.
Well done, fabulous - one of my favorite reads of the year!
For those who enjoy Halloween, you may think it is something that we have always celebrated here in the states - but you would be wrong.
This story brings the Halloween to America, and the reason behind where it came from.
Super cute and enjoyable read! I loved it!
Thank you for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.
Get to know the life of a whale calf in this remarkable book!
From what they eat, to sleep, play, and singing, this book takes you on a journey in the life of a baby whale during the day.
Great reading and full of fun facts. A great way to learn something new, without feeling like you are learning!
Thank you to the publisher and Edelweiss for an advanced copy of this book. Review and thoughts are my own.
What a perfect read!
When a demon inhabits his body, Victor is trying to figure out how to defeat it, but everything he tries, he finds the demon is one step ahead. Stuck in a mental hospital, he is put to torturous healing by the doctor in residence, and there seems to be no way of escape.
Loved this book! There is one more in the series, and I cannot wait to see how this melodrama ends!
