The book makes a pretty significant change to the dungeon. Stakes get higher and Carl decides to take things a bit more personal with those outside the dungeon. So great.

Good, but not as strong as book 3. Characters start to grow here. Especially Katia. The end of the book alludes to big events in future books. Carl starts to take control of his own fate. I don't like the direction for Katia as the book ends. I hope this reverses course in future books.

This book starts to expand on the overall groups that are in charge. Another solid journey.

This book was great. I cannot recommend this enough. The book is a very fast read, fun, and makes you want more.

Great follow-up to book 1. The ending made me immediately jump into book 3.

The book was great, however the ending wasn't what I hoped. Even though it makes total sense... unless there is a sequel. Then I would raise this to a 5. 

The book is great but the enemy reveal made me so confused as there was zero foreshadowing. Looking forward to book two.

Really moves the series story forward. While book 2 is more of a continuation of Book 1.

Tough read

This book has a lot of extraneous info in it. It just didn't hold up to previous books in the series. Let's hope this is a precursor to new stories that rock the status quo.

Good first book

This series could be great going forward. Looking to see the sequel to see if the series takes some more unexpected turns.

Excellent book. I was surprised it was so good. Had to get #2 in the series.

Good but totally changes viewpoint from the main character of the first book to a secondary character in this one. Should call it a Chase Kolpath book, not an Alex Benedict one.

This book is very interesting. The depths humanity goes to survive. Great read!

This book uses many different ideas well, but executed them poorly. I felt more like I was psychoanalyzing a guy who hated himself, had serious problems with social interaction, and was just biding his time until he dropped dead. He also had serious daddy issues and seemed to blame everything on his parents. Given the reviews I read, I expected a fun book with interesting characters shooting across SciFi. When the most interesting character is an imaginary dog that doesn't exist, you have problems. I was pretty let down.

Amazing ending to the Saga of the Seven Suns. Some topics seemed like an easy neat way of wrapping things up, but the story makes sense. I hope Anderson returns to this universe in time.

Couldn't get through this book. It was recommended on many lists...it just seems so...outdated.

One of the greatest books ever written.

The best book I have read in years. If you are from GenX and enjoyed any geek things from the 80's or early 90's you will love this.

If only the movie John Carter was half as good as the book it would have made a killing at the box office. I wasn't expecting to like this 100 year old book but couldn't put it down.

Great book and a nice change from the previous books in the series.

The book was good but dragged out at times. the ending was shocking. I look forward to reading the second book in the series.

Great book. Let's just say the ending leaves a bit to be desired though. It's up there with Jeff Goldblum beating the Aliens in Independence Day with a Mac.
