I don't think I've ever read a male main character like this - I loved it!
Reluctant lovers (which I normally find annoying) but this was so well done and the characters so relatable I just loved the pair of them together.
The humour in this book surprised me too - particularly from another paladin in the group.

Idk.. maybe I expect too much after the end of crown of midnight. Nothing really happens for the first 3/4 of the book. The last 20% sorta makes up for it.. maybe. Undecided whether to continue.

Had to summon all the will for the first 40% of this book, the writing style and multiple POVs takes a bit of getting used to. Was it worth it? Yes yes beautiful conclusion, the reveal of the intricate connections between characters was satisfying. I still had some questions at the end, though nothing a quick Reddit search couldn't explain.

I'm now yearning for an unintentionally hilarious but endearing gargoyle best friend. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Gothic, mystery, lore, adventure, trials, unique magic system (not my fave but cool) and the romance whew. Moody, snarky male main with her being his only weakness, touch her and die energy ugh. A little salty about the ending though
