the last chapter got me and now im sad

loooooooooove the parents and teachers in this book so much. wish it was longer so we could spend more time with all the characters, loved the audiobook and the writing.

i had fun reading it

i love this!!! made me so happy and warm inside by the end

the story is more of a 4.5/5 stars but i bumped it to 5 for how the book looks like, the audiobook and the experience in general

no clue what it was about but i enjoyed the experience and the atmosphere. not a fan of the last 10%. love the writting and the audiobook was great too

very heavy and sad but also important read. as someone who was a big fan of the show and sam's character in particular this book was very eye opening in terms of what happens in the industry and behind the closed doors. its sad that someone who created this amazing and comforting character for many kids and teens, was dealing with very heavy things in the meantime and no one knew until recently. im so happy that jennette is getting so much love and support these days bc that is truly what she deserves and i hope she continues to thrive :)

2.5

finishing this book felt like when u hav a dream in which u did something awful and went to jail and then u wake up and you are so happy it was just a dream. thats how i feel now.

finally a riley sager book i enjoyed from start to finish. i did guess the big plot twist but it was what i wanted to happen so i dont mind that. overall a solid story and was fun reading it while at the lake

2.5

cool story, would've been better as a movie tho

this was so fucking boring and pointless and i really dont understand how is this a horror book. i was really tempted to giv this a one star but i liked the characters and the first 2 chapters and dats it. i hope the upcoming movie will be good but i doubt dat bc of the director 🥴

going into this i did not expect to cry over a horror book, but here we are

loved it so much from start to finish. love the characters, the atmosphere and the feeling of not knowing what is going on till the end of the book. it was more uneasy and creepy than scary, it reminded me of a creepypasta but in a good way

13/1/2024 reread:

still love it but no tears this time

3.5
i like the art alot but im still not a fan of the story so im giving it 0.5 stars more than the book itself

4.5

THIS WAS SO CLOSE TO 5 STARS BUT THERES JUST SOMETHING MISSING
i basically read from page 60 till the end in one day coz i couldnt put the book down and i tabbed the hell out of it. the characters and story feels so real i cant believe this is all fake. i plan to listen to the audiobook bc i heard great things so dat can possibly bump it up to 5 stars and also the upcoming tv show!!!! so excited

daisy and karen were my fav characters for sure and all the men annoyed me at some point, also camila deserved better and ill stand by dat

3.5

i really loved the characters and the boarding school setting so i thought its going to be a 5 star read. sadly the mystery and plot twists and juicy secrets didnt really work for me, nothing surprised me or left me shocked for some reason. its still a good book and i enjoyed my time, i was just underwhelmed by how it all came out :/

3.75

the reveal was underwhelming and not that surprising but i enjoyed the journey, the audiobook and the characters so im rounding up to 4 stars just for the experience

as a “housewives of beverly hills” enjoyer, this was a great read. fun and entertaining, predictible by the end but i didnt mind

3.75
i liked it alot!!! shouldve been shorter and the interview/book research parts were boring to me but overall a solid read :)

2024 REREAD
rereading this was a mistake, way boring than i remembered. still love gus tho

2.5 stars
as a bisexual person this was dissapointing. it was very millenial and cringy at times, made me roll my eyes alot. i guess maybe i would recommend it for someone who is not queer but interested to learn something? but even then this book has a very narrow view of things in my opinion.

1.5

i had such big expectations going into this, i even bought matching pink tabs specifically for this book (!!!) coz everyone seems to love it so i thought i will too. this was so dissapointing and so unfunny it actually made me angry. the absurdity worked for me only in the 3rd story, which i liked alot, but the more i read the more i kept rolling my eyes. in the whole book i enjoyed maybe like 5 stories, but even those were like 3/5 good, dats why im rating the whole thing 1.5/5. maybe if u enjoy bojack, you will like this but ive never watched the show and tbh this book made me even less interested in it. honestly im just sad bc i really expected to love this but here we are, next time i wont make the same mistake by hyping up a book for myself ig :)

this was a very anticipated read for me so i went into it with big hopes. wasnt at all what i expected but im not mad. i think the book was more abt the wlw relationship and the main character than the work itself, but at the same time the work did impact her relationships and what she did so i was fine with that. not a fan of the ending, wish we got a bit more there.

3.75

i'm not a fan of short stories collections bc they are always too short for me to engage but this one was surprising to me. there was only 2 stories i didnt like and the rest of them were like 4 stars on avrg. my fav one was Peach Cobbler, it made me very sad at times and i think i understood it the most. i liked the mentions of christianity and culture around church esp in the last story bc some of those topics were similar to what i experience everyday. one thing i wish was diffrient was the first two stories being longer coz i really liked them but they just kinda ended and i wanted more :( overall i think its a great collection and i think theres something in it for everyone.

Book was great, i love the main characters and the queer rep. The second half was alot better than the first one and the book lost me a bit in the middle, but at the end of the day i really cared for what is happening to the characters and how things are going to end up. Im happy with the ending but i wish we had more of Devon and Chiamaka being happy with their partners and in work coz that part was very sweet.

THE ENDING????×,&#&×¥×¥2÷(
ok i loved the beginning, middle of the book was boring coz it was too similar to the first book and put me in a slump BUT THEN THE LAST CHAPTER. so excited for the last book coz i NEED to know whats in the 13th district

this was my first time ever reading this book and i had so much fun!!!! it was better than i expected and i cant wait to continue. also im team peeta, at least for now 🧐

not as good as the first one but solid
