very weird but funny and bonus points for being gay

2.5

guessed the plot after 2 chapters but it wasnt bad

this was fine, hit a bit too close to home at times

read the first half in one sitting but sadly the other half was so boring it took me a whole day to finish, i even skim read the last chapter or two. loved the parts abt working at amazon but theres so many fragments about random stuff from the authors life or her thoughts that have nothing to do with the subject of the book and i hated those SO much. i tabbed alot coz i once worked at a similar job so it was all very relateable but i wish she just stuck to writting abt the actual job and not random and uninteresting stuff

this book talks abt a serious and important issue that happens to alot of people but idk it wasnt surprising or shocking and didnt say anything new? it was a pretty basic story about an abusive family but it didnt really say much more than that so its not anything groundbreaking or 5 star worth to me. i still think its good and people should read it but yeah

lost me in the second half but i still liked it

the beginning was so strong and it just kept getting worse and worse. im very dissapointed with the pointless direction this book took :/

THE EPILOGUE???? god im so excited for the second book now. decided to read this one coz it has my favourite tropes and once again i was not dissapointed, this was so good

there's no way booktubers who read 20 thrillers a month on average said this book had shocking plot twists. guessed every single one of them like 50% into the book and im just so annoyed. this was literally a 5 star prediction for me and i was so excited to read and love it after all the hype but here we are. ALSO THE WRITTING? all these weird metaphors and pseudo literally sentences at the end of every paragraph were so annoying + why the fuck are they eating all these weird foods like chicken in chocolate gravy, peas in green jelly-o or mashed potatos with sprinkles??????? and the main character keeps saying the food is good, i know you are lying

2.5

was kinda boring but i still like the characters, writing and the world

this fr wasnt as bad as people made it out to be lol. it was pretty average for me personally, i listened to the whole thing on audio omw to work for like 2 weeks and i had fun. i could not stand the main character tho, she read like a “not like other girls” girl with the whole old movies refrences every 2 pages and it was very annoying. she also made dumb decisions multiple times but i just dont care that much, i didnt take the book too seriously from the start so maybe dats why i dont hate it as much.

3.5

a little better than the first story

THE ENDING?????? well now im excited for the main book

a very boring start to the series, idk if im going to continue (probably not)

3.5

im so sad...
i was so excited for this book after loving the gggtm trilogy but this was just okay to me. the characters, setting and pacing were great; loved the reading experience and was sure ill give it 5 stars but then the reveal happend and it was just so underwhelming and i guessed most of it earlier but hoped i was wrong. its not a bad book at all, just not my cup of tea sadly

2.75
my expectations were way too high, this wasnt anything special in my humble opinion

2.75
it was fine

boring. no clue why the movie for this book is 260 MINUTES LONG

THIS TOOK ME OVER A MONTH TO READ but im so glad i finally did. love this book, its ingrained into my brain and i think abt it all the time. this book was so well written in my opinion, the characters felt very real and the descriptions of alaska and winter and survival will never leave my brain. theres so many amazing lines about motherhood, justice for women and family dynamics and i couldnt stop annotating. it was hard to read at times and dats also why it took me so long to finish coz i needed breaks but i love this book anyways.

damn i knew whats going on pretty much from the start so this was just a bit boring to me. was confused the whole time waiting for something to happen coz i thought surely there must be something more to this than what i already guessed...but no.

4.5

this was SO GOOD. it reminded me alot of liane moriarty books, but better!!!! i liked the characters and the way the story was told, the final conclusion surprised me coz i didnt see it coming at all and the overall ending made me sad, almost teary eyed. also love how the lesbian couple just exists in this book and isn't there for the sake of education or brownie points!!! im so glad i finally got around to reading this book

the last 30-40% got way too ridiculous and messy for my liking. it was as if the author just threw stuff on the wall hoping for it to stick

devoured this in a day and a half. it was very interesting and i love the atmosphere, had no clue where the book is going so the ending surprised me. this took me out of a month long slump so it deserves the 4 star rating

it was fine

the last chapter got me and now im sad

loooooooooove the parents and teachers in this book so much. wish it was longer so we could spend more time with all the characters, loved the audiobook and the writing.
