See allIt's rare that I read a book that I truly do not like, but The Grapes of Wrath fits that description. While I did mildly enjoy the “descriptive” chapters, as I call them, the more narrative chapters that follow the Joad family were a chore to read. The ending was truly bizarre and felt like it had completely out of nowhere.
In all of the time I've used Goodreads, I've never felt compelled to write a review. That all changes today, and I'm so excited to be able to leave a review of this absolutely beautiful book. I've also never started to get teary-eyed after finishing a book, but this, small, simple 100 page book did just that. This book is like a Pixar or Ghibli film, you think the target audience is “for kids”, but really, the target audience is “for everyone.” There has never been a book I think I can recommend as highly as this one. Regardless of how old you are, READ THIS BOOK.
