I really enjoyed this book even though I do feel that it is an oversimplification of some parts of history and tragically leaves out some rather important people in favor of mentioning those that we hear about the most (I was crossing my fingers we'd hear about Lady Mary Wortley Montagu during the discussion of Edward Jenner). Kennedy's argument is an interesting one so I did enjoy hearing about his perspective.
This was really quite excellent. I listened to the audiobook which had a great cast that helped to differentiate all four characters. Typically when there are multiple characters present, I tend to have a favorite and least favorite which can make a book drag. This was not the case for this book, which left me pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend.
I love a great romance and this was a great romance.
What brings this to 5 stars, though, is the thoughtful depiction of OCD in this book. It's a rare thing when I am able to consume a piece of media where OCD is described on a level that I can actually relate to (you know–the character with OCD is not a serial killer in this book). Accurate depictions of mental health are important, and it made me so happy to see that in this book.
