Piranesi is unlike any other book I've read. I'm not sure if I would exactly put this under the Fantasy genre; if anything, it's a lot more subtle and perhaps more in between Fantasy and Magical Realism. It has incredible world building, such a unique story, and for me it was the kind of book that I couldn't put down.
Wow. Just WOW! Once this book got going, I could not put this book down. Incredibly riveting, deeply emotional, and it made me want to read more Japanese and Korean literature.
I absolutely love Adichie, I absolutely love books on feminism and I loved this book too! Very concise and straight to the point.
Giving this a 4/5 instead of 5/5 cause I felt that it completely ignored the fact that gender and sex are different, and it was very focused hetero relationships. These are things that are top of mind for me (esp in 2021), though I understand it might not have been as common to talk about in 2014.
This is one of a kind and I get why people may think the plot is really smart, but I'm not sure it really did it for me. I didn't hate it but didn't love it either
