
it's a well-written book - that being said, a la the movie Rashomon, there are no objective truths; only vantage points. Here's the other vantage point: english/writing major dropped into a hardo tech startup and couldn't cut it.
Regardless, it's an eye opening, cutting commentary on the absurdity and BS that comes with joining a tech startup - and the loss of humanity that sometimes comes with attempting to grow a company against all statistical odds.
I remember reading this and being deeply moved while working at a tech startup myself, then realizing if I spent too much time dwelling on my feelings, the business wouldn't move forward.
The sacrifices we must all make in this video game of life...
good book for those who aren't initiated into this framework (thinking about decisions in expected value terms). for anyone else - pretty basic and no new insights.
