Outlaw Planet is a space opera western mashup from author M.R. Carey. I wanted to read this novel because I have read almost all of his books and I have enjoyed them all. This novel is a standalone, however, it does takes place in the same universe as the Pandominion Series.
I really enjoyed how the author blends many gritty western tropes into a bigger space opera story. The story is mostly plot driven and there is a lot of action throughout the novel. I like the grand scale world building this author uses. I also appreciate the philosophical elements of sentience and personhood which carry over from the Pandominion Series.
If you like are looking for a western that combines high technology, I think you should read this novel. If you have enjoyed any other M.R. Carey novels, you will probably enjoy this one as well.
